This appears to be a 1979 D Repunched Mint Mark, although it could be a contact mark. Any thoughts? It appears to have a double rim also. What would cause that?

The double rim could be part of a MAD with the obverse slight out of alignment. The mint mark, it would be nice to see a closer image. Is their any Machine Doubling on either side of the coin?

There is no noticeable Machine Doubling. That may be because the coin is so worn . . . perhaps not. In any event, here are more pics. I think the die was slightly misaligned when this coin was struck. I also think it is more likely than not that the mint mark was repunched, as opposed to having a contact mark. I sure would appreciate your input.

Also, I don't see any of the die markers that you would expect to see on this coin. Again, I think that is because the coin is heavily worn.

I would hang on to this until you have others to mail in to coppercoins.com The images don't say to me it is a RPM, but a closer look might be needed to tell for sure. Save it marked for submission till you find another coin to send in. The bottom of the mint mark is from a damaged punch. The mark on the upper serif? It may/may not be something.
