Market grading, imho.
It's really a 62 or so, maybe even a body bag due to that hit on the jaw.

MS-64 seems a bit high for this coin I'd probably go MS-63 based on the luster.
That assumes the lines on the reverse are die polishing and not cleaning (!)

I would say MS-62... I can't believe it got that grade considering how many hits it has, it's mind-boggling

Yipes .... that is way overgraded and way overpriced IMHO.
The bag hits on focal areas lead me to call this MS62 at best.

Yeah, PCGS goofed on that one. Those hits on the obverse are way to significant to warrant MS64.

Memorial cents always get higher grades with the TPG's, fact of life, get used to it. I'd call that a 63 personally but it's close to a 64 if the luster is there. You can't get too hyped up over picture grading people....the grade is always determined in hand without magnification. I've sold plenty of coins in which the pictures don't depict the grade. I've posted MANY coins here and rarely does anyone get the grade right. A picture may be "worth a thousand words", but you can't consistently and accurately determine a coin's grade from one.

With grades I have received lately this coin does not deserve to be in a 64 holder. I had a 1965 cent returned to me in a MS65 holder that has no visible flaws! According to that scale this one is MS61 at best.

I wish I could afford to guy that coin.
If I could, I would buy gold instead.
I guess the guy is in no hurry to sell it.

Quote: I had a 1965 cent returned to me in a MS65 holder that has no visible flaws! I've submitted many coins like that too. It all has to do with luster. If the coin has blazing luster, the grade will be elevated. I'm sure that's the case with this coin. You can't see the luster in the photos but a few hits will not bring the grade down if the eye appeal is strong.

Not sure how many double clicked on the photos but appeared to really, really have been hit many times somewhere, obverse and reverse. Of course there is a possibility that PCGS has now gone to a MS-80 or -90 system. Considering that possibility, then a -64 is possibleon this one.

The PCGS market graders are pushing the market to the limits of incredulity on this one. This boy looks like he's been in a knife fight.
