You should check the settings on your metal detector.

I agree with scooby you need to discriminate the large dates out and use the VDI to pull the small dates. WOLF

Now I may have a bad angle with the camera. But the 9 in not sticking out above the 1. Isn't that true to all small date 1960's? I've compared it to my BU small date. They look the same or it's just me.

You may want to post a pic of the coin you are comparing it to. Maybe it's a large date, too.

The coin pictured above is definitely a large date.

The 6 is much more compact on the small date. Try this:
