I have been lucky enough to acquire several of these coins. Not sure if any of the Morgans are VAM's. I need to pick up a stronger loop.

Does that effect the value? What is the best way to clean them if it is ok to do so.

Generally, you should never clean coins, it lowers their value. Others have soaked them in different liquids but they will have to speak on that part.

All of the dollars were given to me in a plastic coin tube. If they were cleaned I would have no idea when. They were put away about 50 to 60 years ago by a relative. I have just been lucky enough to acquire them.

Thanks everyone. All Your advise and help is greatly appreciated. This stuff is addicting. Checking my pocket change everyday. Bummer for the Grandkids, they no longer get 1st crack at it.

Yes, as soon as I saw the first pic, I also thought "harshly cleaned."

Yes you are fortunate to have acquired them but the grandchildren aren't going away and hopefully you'll have added a bunch to the stack when it's their turn.

Great coins... definitely a cleaning here or there, but nonetheless I'd still like to have them!

I'd use Acetone to remove PVC only. Nothing stronger!!
