Just used google translate. I knew "Fleur" was french for flower. But somehow, when you add "De Coin" to it it turns to "Uncirculated".

Yep, that's actually a nice set :) FDC is the same as UNC (uncirculated).
Tell me if you want to sell it, my wife was actually born on that year (I got a set from the US for my year - 1979) I actually never saw the white I cent coin in circulation (maybe I was too young - I think they stopped a few years after)

I believe that Fleur de coin literally translates as "of the bloom of the die" rather than strictly translating as flower. But you can see what they were getting at - the best that a die can give - like a first pressing - like extra virgin olive oil almost :)

Yep, that's exactly this. It's not the same as proofs - which are done using special dies.

By the way, "FDC" is used in several languages. In Italian it is short for "fior di conio", in Portuguese it's "flor de cunho" - and both terms mean the same as "fleur de coin". :)

Great looking set! I'd be interested too, if you decide to try and sell it here on the forum.
Cheers, SCS

Sure, I am :) (pm me if you want)
Just bought the set from this year (2011), as I'm getting a kid in a month or so :D It's less representative with the euro though.

Those are very nice looking coins. I like that big coin in the middle.

The design is very old, and dates back to just after the french revolution : http://franc.francais.free.fr/modul...dex&piece=5fI have some recent 1 franc (1991 if I remember well) with Regarding those euros ... they don't know what to do to sell silver and gold at a very high price. Those coins are nice, but to me they are not the same thing as regular circulating coins (a bit like proofs in the US - they look good but are not sold at face value - don't flame me for this please :p)
