Quote:I reckon there are too many Mexaican coins now, give me some different ones! Mexico and other Spanish colonial are probably the easiest and most meaningful pre-1776 coins for American collectors, so they'll probably be fairly common from now until the Spanish first begin to regularly put dates on their coins, sometime in the late 1500s. Nevertheless, since my nicest 1756 coin is also Mexican, here's a non-Spanish coin for you. 1756 Piedmont-Sardinia-Savoy 2 denari. Obverse: legend around cross CAR EM DGR SAR CYP ET IER D SAB ET MF P P, which translates and expands to: Carlos Emanuel by grace of God King of Sardinia, Cyprus and Jerusalem, Duke of Savoy and Montferrat, Prince of Piedmont. Reverse: the crowned Royal Knot of Savoy.
