SILVER JUST BROKE $45.00 AN OUNCE ! At $45.00 an oz., I'm considering selling off the rest of my "junk silver". I've already sold a bunch recently, to pay for some key dates and semi keys for the Dansco's. (and bills)
I'm just curious with all of us who hold "junk silver", what their limit is to "holding it".
I believe mine just might be $45.00 !
Hey, and please elaborate what you used the money for if you "did" sell some off. Or explain why you will not sell......believing that the market will continue to climb...or if you just don't really care about the money.

I'm holding out for now. I was considering unloading a lot of mine when silver hit $30 an oz, and I'm sure glad I didn't.
My reasoning for holding out is I believe the price will continue to climb. Even once the price surge mellows, I believe we will still see a turtles pace increase before we see it heading down again. To be honest I doubt the price will even see a major decrease at all, the uses/demand for silver just keep increasing and it's not like the Earth is churning up more supply for us.

I think it's going to continue to climb for awhile, but $45 is pretty tempting. What's a good price to get from a local dealer? There's one near me that's giving around $30 per face dollar, which I believe would be about 90% of the value.

I think I'll sell 1/2 when it breaks $60 and sell the other 1/2 just before we get a new guy in office.

Quote: and sell the other 1/2 just before we get a new guy in office. So........ a " President Trump" frightens you ? ..... I've sold over a hundred silver Rosies.....bunch of silver Halves--Kennedy-Franklins-and Walkers-..... some Peace dollars......a Silver President Dollar Set (A Franklin Mint debacle!, but hey it was all Silver---36 Presidents) All I have left are some Silver Washingtons and Morgans.....(now the Morgans...I never thought I'd consider "junk silver", but they're just some common P,D, & S 1921's. I will NOT, at this point, start getting into my Dansco's, and begin pulling coins from THERE ! ..... I'm of course only talking about "junk" silver.....common stuff.....that I have MANY duplicates of.....and in average to poor condition.

Frightened is an understatement, I'm half tempted to move out of the country if that man is somehow elected.

I bet some people dump which will lead to a little bit of a decrease in spot due to more supply, but then I think it will go up and when/if it hits $50 then you will see hoards being sold and the price will drop quite a bit.....just specualtion though.

Deltron where would you move to?
Europe is just as messed up as the US is.
I moved from the US to the UK back in 1998.

I think once it hits $50, quite a few will sell... But I think it could go into the $70 range, but I'm the last person in the world that would be considered an expert...

I buy and sell regularly so I don't really have a "sell point" but I picked $75. That's where I'd let go of a significant portion of my silver bullion and 90% silver U.S. bullion coins.

I think silver broke $40 and is now sailing to $50. $50 is a major, major resistance point I think, since this is the all-time high, plus a major psychological barrier. If it breaks through $50, is blue clear sky- with every $10 increasse as a resistance.

Does "junk silver" coins generally sell at melt, just below melt, or just above melt?

I bought a lot of stuff a long time ago when silver was under $5. I began selling slowly when it came around $15. Whoops. I've been putting all money back into the collection getting things I've wanted for years which are not affected by silver prices. I've gotten quite a set of Dansco albums. I bought almost all proof and mint sets to fill those up. I've been buying more foreign. Mostly avoiding buying anything silver at this point.

I really don't have much silver or "junk" silver. I have a few Kennedy halves, some walkers and some misc. silver coins including 2 ASE bullion coins, but that's about it. So I'm not really considering selling as I enjoy the coins much more than what I would get at this point.

DavidZerbato....... I know what you're saying, but, in part, I used some of the "proceeds" of my sales, to buy coins that I needed and would IMMENSELY enjoy ! ... : A BU 1939 D Jefferson nickel (It's a beauty !) ... A BU 1950 D Jefferson nickel A nice 1931 S Lincoln Cent (a key LWC that I NEVER thought I'd own !) And WHOLE bunch of other BU Wheaties & Jeffersons too, that all went into my Danco's. I filled some holes with the Silver money ! I told the wife, that if I did sell my junk silver.....that I wanted to get "something" out of it "coin-wise" ! ..... She agreed......to a point. Also, I think this is the only way I'd be willing to "fork over" some good money for keys, semi-keys, or just good BU quality coins. I look at it as...... "coins for coins" ....... or "less than desirable coins for HIGHLY desirable coins". It was a good trade/sell that makes me very happy ! ..... But I'm also a little fearful, that if/once I sell all of my junk silver......that I won't have any left....and then the price will DOUBLE WHAT " I " SOLD IT AT ! ...... I've always liked and appreciated my junk silver coins......even though I didn't put them in Dansco's or anything, I loved them for their history, for their individual looks, their age, their designs, etc., etc., etc.,......so I will miss them for many reasons on many levels. I am a little bit sad and bothered that I've done this......but I "have" upgraded substantially and filled some NICE holes to boot ! And I have some decent money in the bank because of it.
