Is this common to find a coin in this nice of condition in a bank roll? I was very surprised. I am just starting this Penny set...would you keep in in the book or is this worthy of putting it in a 2x2 to keep it looking nice? Why or how did this stay in this good of condition...its still shocking to me...

Beautiful coin. That's been hiding in somebody's piggy bank for 40 year. Glad to see it found a nice home. David

More older BU's have been popping up since around the beginning of the recession... There were so many people losing jobs, and flat out needed the money, so had to turn in their change jars, buckets, and/ or collections . I know my area has been prime picking where I live(at least with searching rolled Cents. But that isn't always the scenario in finding BU's in circulation. Just the luck of the draw that makes it so fun...

Found a 1969 S in that kind of condition, and no, it's not a double die. Yeah, I've been seeing alot of shiny old cents recently, coolest is a '59 with a rim so sharp you can cut your finger on it, and it blings enough to make lil' Wayne jealous. I exaggerate, but I'll post a pic.

I agree with most of the posts above. People have just been on it turning in parents coins, grandparents coins, and what not. I am 21 years old, and I have numerous friends who only know Penny, Nickel, Dime Quarter...And especially out here in the boonies with all the old retired folks numerous amounts of coins end up at Safeway, Walmart, and Banks. I have just even started asking my Wells Fargo branches, two of them within 15 minutes, to let me know when customers turn in lose change, and rolls. Crazy things can pop up. BU coins from the 1930's are ones I have seen people starting to get. And they say roll searching is a bust, good luck everyone!

I know I would go the 2X2 route were I starting out. For years I had the typical blue Whitman folders. I had the books wrapped in plastic and stored in what I thought was a safe, dry place. Twenty years later I got them out and the pieces that were Unc on both sides now have no luster on the back. Even though I thought I took enough precautions, somehow the cardboard in the books retained/obtained moisture and stole the luster from the coins. I have since transferred everything to 2X2's and will not use another holder where the coin is in contact with cardboard/paper, etc.
