Looking back at the charts, it looks like silver went from ~$42 to ~$46 last week...approximately a $4 increase. Just wondering if anyone thinks this will roll through the upcoming week and have silver prices hit (even if it drops back under) $50/oz at some point this week?

Hoping for one more consolidation before that Uncharted above $50 territory. I think mid-May before $50. Only because of the mental aspect of record silver. Of course, I've been wrong before. As a part-time dealer, I'm positioned either way, so $50 by the end of this week wouldn't be a bad thing. Good topic.

Looking again at the 30 day chart, it looks like silver has gone up approximately $2, $2 & $4 in the last 3 weeks. I'm going to guess that it WON'T his $50 this week, but as it gets close I could see it getting even more coverage in the media and potentially more "investors" looking to get in before it hits a milestone. I'm guessing that could cause a quick spike causing it to hit $50. Either way, this should be an interesting few days to watch silver...

I'd be surprised if it took until Mid-May at this point, though I wouldn't have guessed it would even be THAT QUICK just a month or 2 ago. I was thinking $50 sometime this summer...

I am going out on a limb and say it hits 50 an oz by mid week Wed. It is only $2.22 away, and the rate it has been on, a 1.11 on Monday and Tuesday does not seem that far from the realm of possibility....

If the dollar continues to decline, you betcha! There's even some more rumor that China is dumping dollars and trying to promote the Yuan as the primary international trading currency.

I would love to see it correct its self before the 50 mark but I am waiting to see what the almighty dollar does.

It is already near $48.00 spot. From what I understand, it hit the 50.00 mark in the Indian markets, and closed at that. Mondays open may see a large spike right off the bat. I am interested in seeing how one of my theories unfolds. It involves silver rising until Thursday, justifying a high price on the 5oz bullion being released. Then we see a pullback the following week.

Opened in the Asian markets a few minutes ago. Up almost $1 in seconds after opening. $47.45.

Its anyone's guess really. I can see it hitting 50.00 and then dropping slightly (or more) b/c I think a lot of people have been holding out selling until it hits that 50.00 mark. We humans tend to think in nice round numbers like this. I also am not sure it can go back down to the levels it was before all this started. There was too much money being printed in these last few years (which we all know is backed by nothing solid). History has shown over and over that when this happens, we get inflation and the non-backed currency buys less and less product. However, history also shows silver has retained the same value with respect to goods. So as the dollar goes down, silver has to be worth more dollars. With the new taxes and new gas prices it is said the current administration wants to impose, silver should either continue to climb or level off and stay close to where it is.

I see no reason it wouldn't hit 50, but when it does, lots of people will take profits on at least part of their holdings.
