+1 YES My wife has informed me on many occassions that her dad taught her how to "rat hole" money away; old coat pockets, books, taped under tables, etc... I used to get mad about it, but those rainy days have been coming around more frequently since my "military service obligation" of 24 years has come full circle.

My coin habit has been funding itself for years. If I want something bad enough, I will sell something, kinda like a one-for-one swap.

My wife is easy to deal with, unlike some women. She knows I'm good with money, so she trusts me. In fact, I take care of most of our financial matters. I could spend money behind her back, but I'm a tightwad! We both grew up kind of poor, so we're careful with money.

When I told her I was buying silver, she really wasn't mad. She was excited, even. She's always liked sterling jewelry. Also, she knows it will be easy to sell if we have to.

Wow. I have to say, NO, not at all. We both know what we spend on our hobbies. When we had money, we would spend what we had on each other. We didn't want to spend money on ourselves.

You must keep in mind that I found the PERFECT wife. Just after she said that she would marry me, I said we should start looking for a engagement ring, she said, and I quote: "I'd rather have a High Definition Television." Yes, the perfect wife.

If that doesn't convince you, in 2006, I was looking at the car of my dreams. I went to the dealer and was ready to order MY car. The more I thought about spending $80,000 on myself, the less I felt like I could. I walked out of the dealer and called her on the way home and said I couldn't do it. She asked if it would make me happy to get the car. I said yes and she said "Just go order the car!"

I went back and ordered the car built to my specs, put down a $5000 deposit and 4 months later, I had my 2007 Lotus Exige S. It's gone now, but what a car! If you ever want to feel what a race car should feel like, try on a Lotus Exige S.

She only drove it once because as she puts it "It scared the heck out of me!" and she's no light weight driver. Her car at the time was a 2002 Miata Special Edition. The Lotus was fast, 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and would pull up to 1.1 Gs in a turn. Click here to see my car http://www.flickr.com/photos/kostyn...616603519652

She even started buying coins last year and is better at grading than me.

So do you agree? Did I pick the right Wife or not?

I don't keep it from the wife. Most of the time she is the problem when buying coins! But not in the way most people will think. I'll carefully weigh a purchase, sometimes for days, and usually end up talking myself out of it. The other day she asked to see a coin I had been talking about. I told he I ended up not buying it. So then we had to go to the coin store while we were out and she had me show it to her, the she announced that I should just get the coin because it was a nice coin. Another time I was wanting to get a Panda but was balking at the price (all $46 of it). She told me to just get the Panda. :-D
