started?I asked bank at wallmart I was at today and they said they only have those for them.Their not for general public. So I asked if I had to go to a regular bank.Well that just ticked lady off.WE ARE A REGULAR BANK.Itravel most of the country so I could go to banks all over if you dont need to be a member. But do they have these in stock?I have been looking at posts and it appears they need to be ordered.I also travel in canada. And if I understand right it is dollar for dollar when you get these?I found out about this on easter of all days while mding a vacant church.Caretaker told me about it.I got a hand full of wheat cents this past winter just in my change so I find this possible. And with the baby boomers clueless kids only concerned with face value and not silver content anything is possible.Got a silver quarter and dime just in past year from pocket change. Thanks for any info(just hope I can find this post, never posted here before)

It seems to vary by bank. If I just want a few rolls, most banks seem pretty happy to give 'em to me. If I wanted a full box, I'd think I'd need an account or at least talk to them and see if we could set something up. If you have an account with a larger bank (Wells Fargo, Chase, Capital One, etc.) you should be able to get what you want at most branches around the country.

Try another bank. The little branches in grocery stores (walmart's don't have banks in them where I live) tend to not have boxes on hand although mine will order them for me. Try the bigger branches, especially the ones that handle business transactions (they'll often have a separate counter for accounts) as they tend to be better stocked and more amenable to ordering coin for you.

The banks in grocery stores do seem to have a lot of customer wrapped rolls though. When ever I want a bunch of CWR I go to the bank at the Tops supermarkets around my area.

The only way you will find out for sure, is to keep asking around at different banks. Or credit unions. Each one is different.

I have better luck in smaller to mid size towns. The banks in larger towns around here will not hardly even let you in the door. I usually just tell them that I was checking out customer service because I was going to open an account with a substantial deposit, but they failed.

I use TD Bank. You can also dump them in the coin machine there for free if you have an account. If you don't than you will have to pay a 6% fee, which is dumb, but they give me no problem and I go there every couple days.

My wife has had her own restaurant for about 20 years. She has a good eye for silver. Over the years she has brought home any silver and I put them away for her. I counted them up for her the other day. She has done all right for her effort. 2 Franklin halves, 16 1964 Kennedys, 36 40% Kennedys, 21 silver Washingtons, 5 Mercury dimes, and 158 silver Rosies. I told her what her stash was worth the other day and she decided not to sell at these levels. She wants to hold out for $100 silver. What a girl.

yeah i'd say grocery store banks are not the place to go if you want a box. and it does vary by bank. one bank I am a member of wants me to order boxes if I want one each week. another bank I am a member of is larger and they said I can just come each week without ordering because they have plenty of spares. so it largely varies by bank.
