I think many of the members here, like I did, set some goals at the first of the year. The first quarter of the year was over at the end of March and I am curious if any of you are making any progress in meeting their collecting goals. My two big goals for this year are to complete my Dansco Lincoln 8100 and Dansco Type set 7070 I did pick up a 09 S and 09 S vdb, so that leaves only two more holes to fill. And I still have two holes left for my 7070, but I think I may have found a Seated dollar I might get. I think if I can stay focused I may be able to meet these goals this year. I did get side tracked in Feburary and started a Dollar date set. I think the funds I spent on that I could have finished the two sets above, but I felt putting some silver away was a good thing to do right now. For me checking on your progress during the year helps to keep focus on what is most important for your own collecting goals. So let's hear how some of you are doing.

Still plugging along on the 1909-1958 Lincoln set.
Added a nice 1909 S, 1917, 1912 D, 1931 S, and some others.

Still trying to complete my Lincoln Dansco 1909-present. Not going to finish for sure this year because of the key dates, but still want to make some headway on it. Same goes for my Jefferson Dansco, though that one actually has a chance of being finished.

I supposed I should have ansewred the question... My first quarter has been spent planning. I am contemplating some changes with how I keep my dark-side coins. Currently they are in 2x2s and kept in a Dansco album with 12-pocket 2x2 pages. I want to move them to Dansco millimeter pages. The current stage is calculating what size pages I need.

I'm giving myself a B-. I wanted to get further on my Kennedy set, but I'm having trouble finding great examples. I'm being very picky and don't want dull or spotted coins. I did get a few Buff nickels and one or 2 more Lincoln cents so I'm doing ok and making progress. Now if I can just find some reasonably priced CC Trade dollars in slabs...

Well, since the economy still is in shambles, and my company is horrifically affected by it.......I'm just hoping to be able to stay "current" with new issues. (Mint Sets, Proof, Silver Proof, Native's) I have made WONDERFUL progress on my Lincoln with Proofs Dansco though, so far this year. Only a few holes left ! Picking up the '31 S in BU, and the '70 S small date in BU, were NICE recent additions for me ! All the 1960 holes filled in BU, and the 1982's knocked out in BU. The '14 D may be happening very soon as well....(just not in BU quality !) And my Jefferson w/Proofs Dansco is taking shape very nicely with recent additions of the BU '39D & the BU 50D, as well as most of the Silver War's in BU ! ..... In selling my "junk silver", I was able to acquire some much desired coins for my albums.......there are pro's & con's with selling it off for this, but the satisfaction of filling those holes with shining quality examples is outweighing the "con" side of things so far, for me ! ....

completed a Canadian 5 cent nickel set, sold gold and silver at a tidy long term profit and bought my avatar, which I thought I'd maybe never own. Next I am maybe going to put together the Franklin proofs and get a seated and Trade dollar. I plan on getting about 10 coins graded, probably all nickels. This quarter, I have completed the Canadian small cents set. I have a lot of the varieties but not all but that is not important to me.

My first quarter has been fun. - I now own the fewest Morgans I've had in 5 years. - Aside my cellphone, I do not own a camera any more. - I haven't bought a coin in 4 months, nor is a purchase planned in the near future. And at no time since the rebirth of my numismatic career have I been more optimistic about the future, or more excited about what I'm doing and where I'm going. Foundations are being built. I'm tensing my muscles, coiling for a spring, and in 5 months I'm going to unleash something not seen before in numismatics. It's a wonderful time to be alive.

Got a handful of KHD's, sold all of my Walkers because after reading a few posts on this site I found out that they were all cleaned and used the money to buy a BU 1942 and a tankful of gas, and bought my first Two Cent Piece a 1865 light brown one with the WE just visible. I give myself a B considering I was unemployed for a while.
