I was following the auction until it's end. Very pretty coin with only a couple slight blemishes on the obverse that IMO, kept it out of the MS67 club.

It amazes me that some of these 120+ year old silver coins avoided toning. I love attractive toning but I also like these older blast white coins.

More than likely, that may have been the case. The reverse is struck much more well than the obverse but, so be it the case for this issue. I think NGC, as well as PCGS, takes this into account when assigning a grade to such coins. I believe that NGC played it safe and conservative calling it MS66.
