I found one of these; http://varietynickels.com/pages/jef...990-date.phpI know The problem is, is that this is the only website I have seen with this error listed, it's not in the Cherrypickers' or Red Book. I'm putting a ballpark grade of AU50 on it but I can't find a price listing anywhere. Any suggestions or ideas on what to do with it?

I can remember when the 1989 Lincoln Cent with "no vdb" was something to look for....that kind of faded away. This is really the same thing but who knows. Can't hurt to stick it in a 2x2.

I've found two or three of them too. I haven't seen them listed in any price guides, but the 82P no FG Kennedy half is, so who knows. I'm hanging on to mine in case the "variety" (yes, I know I know it's just a polished die) ever becomes desirable.

Nice find. It should have at least some premium over 5c. I've looked for 4 years and haven't found one!

It is not a variety because the designer initials were not left off the die, they were accidentally removed through excessive die polishing/abrading. Same situation with Lincolns and Kennedys missing initials.

Don't forget the 3 legged Buffalo and how ridiculous that price is.

In the nickel survey that I am doing here on Coincommunity, I have so far been through 800,000 nickels from circulation, and I have been looking for these since day one. I think I have found 9 or 10 so far, so they are not an easy pull. Keep it!

I know it's not a variety, that's why I used quotes. If it ends up in the RedBook, it will be treated as if it were a variety even though we know it's an error. Just like the 1922 no D cent and the 1937 3 legged buffalo :)

I have about 6 of these guys. I even gave a few away to members here in trade. I first encountered the about 2 years ago. Found my last one maybe a year ago. Havent come across another yet. They may not be worth much, but they're still fun to look for.

You did the right thing. I doubt it will ever bring huge premiums, but it might be worth more than face!

Not a variety, not an error, just a late die state.
