I have a pair of coin tongs that are old. I went to look for another pair online and can find nothing like them. Has anyone seen these before? Does anyone know where to get these?

I've never seen one of those. They may not be around because even though they are plastic (acrylic) they'll leave marks on your coins. Best to invest in cotton gloves.

Thanks for the insight. I never thought of them leaving marks on my coins!

It does seem to be pretty soft plastic, but I will do some experimenting with some junk and see what I come up with. I rarely use them anyway. I think they were originally sold with a jar of "dip" for coin cleaning - we are taking early 70's here though.

if I was going to get tongs, I'd look for something with silicone tips, like the tongs we use in the kitchen have. But kitchen size might be a bit big for handling coins, so cotton gloves are the faithful standby.

I just use the ones I was born with, fingers. Way to easy to drop a coin with those.

A thin coating of rubber cement will solve that problem nicely.

That is about the only time I can remember seeing anyone use tongs, when they were dipping a toned coin in ezest or the like. Of course haven't seen anyone do this in quite a few years but when I was a kid the dealer my grandfather used to visit and sit and talk to would do it to EVERY toned coin that cane in his shop because he said no one wanted a toned coin because they considered it improperly stored. I guess thats why GSA didn't put any toned coins in the Uncirculated slabs
