Could you imagine finding this Liberty nickel with a medal detector seeing the quality of this coin, then you go home to wash it off and discover this.

XF40 Details Damaged possible green/black PVC residue. Worth less than a dollar.
Nice detector find though, Just read that so I am thinking that it is verdigris and minor corrosion instead of PVC damage. Where there's one might be more. Go look for the rest at the same place.

VF details, damaged. Still good as a placeholder until you find a better one. Nice metal detecting find!

As you can tell by the above posts the wear of the coin is kept - VF or EF in this case,
and the "details" term is used to let you know their are problems, in this case the gouge on the obverse.
"Details" is used with scratches,corrosion,staining environmental damage, stuff like that.

The gouge was so bad I didn't even put it in my album, I may put it on ebay, some fool will give me five or six dollars for it.
