http://cgi.ebay.com/1937-D-RARE-3-L...em43a7053167Anyone agree with me calling this out as fake? None of the indicators of the poor die state... detached feather behind the bust's head, poor "E PLURIBUS UNUM", forehead and neck should be messier. In fact, I think you can make out the fourth leg has been shaved off.

Coin in question Mine Looks a lot like mine. E PLURIBUS UNUM is not touching or close to back. The polished out die area looks exactly the same. The rear leg detail is weak. Mine is real. I think this one is the same and legit as well.

Hmmm, WheezyDog -- your comments about the far you & P are right on, but I don't see the bumps from the buffalo's underside to the ground (though that may be camera angle). The obverse is what looks more messed up. The feather looks wrong, usually the neck and forehead are in worse shape.
I'm asking because I'd like to be able to get a pretty good read on these, so I may be way off, and if so I'd like to know. So, thanks WheezyDog!

I know about the dots that go from the underbelly to the ground and I thought I'll skip that as the picture is probably leaving that out due to lighting or something on the ebay coin. Still I can see a few correct dots just under the belly. I know only about the reverse markers, Can't say I know about feathers and such, but I do think it is darn close, maybe a grade lower than mine or a couple points, but the detail in that rear leg is amazingly correct. The Motto usually is one of the first giveaways as it touches the back of "Black Diamond" on fakes.

Im going to say real The guy has a great feedback rating...he wouldnt risk that for 599 bucks. Your feedback rating basically makes or break your ebay store. Trust me, if the guy was selling phonies he wouldve been caught and that rating would be much lower. Coin collectors know what they are doing most of the time, so its no coincidence the guy is a reputable seller.

the only error I see is him listing it as "Silver" which it isn't. I have no idea about any of the attributes of the 3 legger so that part will have to be left to the others for that part being authentic or fake

I don't doubt Wheezydog and others but I thought the back leg was supposed to be weaker. Seems like the authentic ones I've seen that was a marker, but I am not an authority. Just putting it out there for myself and others to learn from.

It looks bad to me. I certainly would not buy this one. Check out the top of the bison's back. Every one of my buffaloes has a smooth curved hump. The coin in question has a rough uneven curve at the top of the hump. My guess. I was going to say my Two Cents, but I think it costs at least a dime now. Larry

If the weak rear leg is a definate attribute as shown in upstates pic. then I do not see it present on either of the two coins pictured. I'm assuming the second pic. is in a TPG slab. Whose ?

Looks like a PCGS slab. I am fairly confident the first coin is genuine.

I too think it is real-the right rear leg should look mothball eaten, not weak, and that one does.
