Hey guys,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this a fake 1878 CC?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...TRK:MEWAX:IT

I know it may be difficult to discern from the pictures, but I am questioning the differently shaped 8s and the left side of what is supposed to be the first four tail feathers on the reverse.

Thanks for the welcome and responses so far!

I've been looking at a ton of slabbed 1878 CCs and never seen tail feather detail as poor as it is on the one in question. It was just sort of a red flag for me.

Looks kosher. Might get an MS63. Pretty decent as far as hits etc. for a CC mint coin. Some hits in the face (worse place for them) but what can you do. Might of been dipped in the recent past. Maybe compare prices on a MS62 and see how that matches up with the bid.

I agree that it looks real, though also think that it has likely been dipped. Could just be the photos, but the luster looks a bit flat.
