Hi,

Another pillar portrait - from the same seller. This one looks better to me than the other, except it has been cleaned with something like baking soda ...
The rim seems to have 2 overlaps (although the second one is harder to read because of damages) - as seen on the last 2 pictures.

Nice coin. Yes it looks cleaned but still a great coin. This is the more common variety with the assayer reading FM, there is another very scarce variety with the assayer backwards as MF. I really like 1772s, I have many examples including some that are heavily chop marked. They are always well struck on big broad planchets and just have a "cool" look to them. Also considered one of the better dates in the Carlos III portrait series. Looks fine to me.

Thanks, I loved its look as well :) Glad to have bought that one !
For now I'm trying to get a nice example in each serie. Not even each mintmark (well except if they don't look alike) / year yet as I collect spanish coins since ~1000)

I just wish the other one would be good (same seller) - but I don't feel safe at all about it, and it seems I was right.
