I have seen so many nice coins on this site, and I have been wondering how long everyone has been collecting for? I just started about three years ago.

I have only been seriously collecting for just over 1 year, buying stuff from the mint when the State Quarter started and then stoped and started up about just over a 1 year ago. I am have a great time with it and loving it.

hmmmmmmm My Mom started my collection before I was born! But, I began with her when I was about 6 years old so, let's see about 45 years off and on.
Rest in Peace

For me, it's been on and off for about 24 years, this stint has lasted about 6 years with an interest in errors and varieties for about the last 4 years, and notes for about 3 years.

I have been collecting seriously for just over a year. I started when I got my daughter a mint for her birth year. The rest is history. Although, I did get an inheritance of about 100 Morgan and Peace dollars that I used to play with as a kid. Fortunately, they were recovered and are now part of my better preserved collection.

I started in 1989. At the time I just collected Lincoln cents and Jefferson nickels. Since then I have branched out to other series.

I collected for a time as a kid and then quit. My Dad passed away in 1969 and left me a few Morgans and Franklins and that got me going again for a few months. All of those coins are gone now but for the ones from my Dad. So, after 35 years, I just started again seriously about a year ago and haven't been able to stop yet!

I got my first "old" coin in 1955 when I was 8. I still have it. I started collecting seriously (as seriously as a kid with a 50 cent a week income could be) when I was 10. That was also the year (1957) that I asked my folks not to bother with toys as gifts. I wanted and received a Twenty Cent Piece. By 1959, I was a school yard coin dealer buying selling and trading. I started with counterfeit coins in 1960. In the 1970s, I became a semi-professional dealer and did that for 25 years. I retired from my primary vocation (the money making one) in 1997 and became a full time coin obsessed collector/researcher.

I started collecting coins when I was about 6 or 7 years old, so I have been collecting on and off for about 40 years. I only really collected what I stumbled upon, I never went out of my way to build the collection. This has changed this year when I found this site and made many new friends.

I'll add to triggersmobs comment. The CCF has re-ignited my passion for coin collecting and has inspired me to branch out into more World coins and Commens. Also, the folks here are much easier to understand when explaining grades, prices and so forth. Thank you CCF!!

I started when my Dad first gave me some of those brand new, shinny, silver looking pennies(cents)that just came out when I was a kid. That was the 1943 Lincoln Cent.

My grandfather started me off about 20 years ago by giving me a small collection that he had. It sat packed away in acloset until I started collecting again about a year and a half ago.
