something about that coin just strikes me as strange, I can't put my finger on it and gold coins is far from being my specialty but just something doesn't look quite right to me for some reason

Wow! I've been looking at a lot of gold coins recently, but I have not seen one even close to as nice as this one. This coin looks almost perfect! There does not appear to be any wear anywhere on this coin. It almost looks like a stock photo for that coin. If it's real, it's real high up the Proof ladder, like 68 or 69. However, there are only 3 coins graded higher (by NGC). There were only 95 proof coins in 1911. Here is a PF67 coin that sold for over $79,000 in November 2003. How much money do they want for this coin?

I think the thing that stands out is how strong the strike is compared to all the other coins I looked at to compare this one too. Here is the link to all those proof coins so you can see what I mean.

I don't know if this is a real coin.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say all his coins are either fake, or all of his pictures are edited. The reason I say that is here is a few more indians he has on ebay right now

Last week a coin like that appeared on ebay France
Looked at first sight as MS66 plus

My friend told me it was extremely despeckled
that is a program written to remove dust on photographs
Since in his previous live he had a photoshop he owns two programs that can do that
Once there is an ethereal glow like after an a bomb blast it is over despeckled
This one is just rightly despeckled

I would not bid on it because I do not think an MS66 plus will wander in unslabbed just like that

Seems to be photoshopped. If it is, run away fast.

Really, MS66 plus? I thought it looked more like a proof because of the lack of wear and marks (I still question if it's real, though). What would make you grade it as a MS 66 rather than a proof? It just looks in such better condition than any of the MS66 coins I compared it too. Not counting the despeckle thing you mentioned.

Typemaster,

What was your interest in this coin? Just practicing, or were you seriously considering a purchase? And if so, how much were they asking?

I was seriously considering obtaining this. However I was uncomfortable with the photo as it seemed to me to be doctored and also I was surprised that the seller hadn't had it slabbed before putting it on the market. I know that had I put this coin out there, it would have been in a slab faster than a fart dissipates in a hurricane prior to me making it available.

From my untrained eye it looks kind of grainy and unnatural to me.
