Im a SBA lover , I collect all the varieties I find as mm etc so as I did not have coins to search today I was checking my coins and found out the all 3 1980D I own they have the same doubling on the reverse lettering !
So here is my questions :
Is this doubling in all 1980D series ?
What are the odds of the only 3 coins (1980 D) I have been made by the same particular die with deterioration or wear ?
Could I just had discovered a variety ?
As I never heard anything about I want ask please any of you guys in here to check yours 1980D SBA so we could see if its just a very common md , Die Deterioration or I'm vaming the SBA dollar ?!.
Thanks in advance for any help or comments !

Interesting.

I have 2 to look at. One in a mint set, which is fine. And the other in a 2x2 that has the same doubling as yours.

In some places it looks like deterioration doubling, other places I'm not so sure.

Scooby check the one in the mint set when you have chance ?!
Is not a dd for sure ! Is more like a DDD but also could be a variety because seems to be very common as you in minutes after my post all ready came up with one . I also found couple after google 1980d DDR lol ! If the one in your mint set have not the doubling I ll have to look for one with a clear strike my self for my variety collection yammy !

I checked my 1980-D SBA for doubling. I checked with my 10x loupe, checked with USB Microscope, and checked with an actual microscope. I see no doubling. I will include two pictures of coin (lighting and shadows give me trouble on pictures).

Thanks for the replays !
Strange all 3 of mine have the doubling , it must be DDD Die Deterioration Doubling or really is a variety not listed yet ! Maybe someone comes with a better idea of it ?!.

I notice the same line in almost all the images? It could be that they are from the same die pair. What I'm seeing more is Machine Doubling. Die deteriation is noticed on the area next to the rim of coin devices.
