I see this all over ebay. Dumb ads with common coins asking absurd prices.

What is the person trying to do here?

You will see this listing up on ebay 10 years from now, or he will get sick of relisting it. Just wants attention.
BTW, it's his only item.

I think perhaps we're witnessing the result of some unresolved childhood issues here.

When you put a price that hi, it puts it to the top of the list when sorted by price. People do that all the time to move their listings up.

"Free shipping". It's a good deal, if anyone wants it they'd better buy it now before someone else does.

Another clue -- this ebay user has no seller feedback. All feedback is from purchases.

Always amusing.

Another example of the no listing fee debacle. Of course the lister is hoping for that one truly not-with-it person with mucho dinero to bid on it. No crime-just unethical (as if he cared.)

I sent the seller with the 1953 Cent a question about why he wanted so much for the coin and asked if the coin was special in some way that we couldn't see.

He was subdued in his answer, but said he knew it was too too much to ask for the coin, but he was selling it for personal reasons and thanked me for my question.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

As I said, the people doing this do it to avoid fees and move their listings up in the search. They do not expect to get that much for it. Had you sent an email saying hey, I will give you .75 for it, I bet he would have sold. Not that I would pay that when I have half a ton of them, but still.

I would do the same thing if I had no morals. Who wouldn't? Without any morals I wouldn't feel bad if there was some moron who felt like they wanted to buy it. Sure, there's a chance that the buyer wouldn't pay up and I'm stuck with a massive Final Value fee. It will go to arbitration and the result would be that the buyer gets booted out of ebay and I am forgiven the fee. I relist the auction and wait again.

It makes me think of the patient spider who spins a web and then just sits and waits... and waits... and waits...
