Check out your letters.... Does everyone have letters like this. Almost seems like a DBL. die. I'm using one light source.

just Machine Doubling. Nothing is actually enlarged. Just slightly damaged during the strike. I've seen other coins with the same things going on.
I used to refer to it as ejection doubling. But the better term is Machine Doubling. Happens during the strikeing process.

Wonder if someone would pay for this type of doubling....

I'm curious is anyone on the board has one like it. Chime in if you do or don't. THX

Keep in mind these were struck twice too. Seems this type of Machine Doubling would be common on the ATB 5 oz'ers. Unknowledgeable people would pay extra for it if represented as a doubled die but to represent this as a doubled die would be dishonest and incorrect.

I have one like it except on the word STATES I was looking online and found out they call this a double strike coin I would think it would be classified as an error coin.

Definitely not an error coin. All 5 oz ATB's were struck twice. I would bet if you looked close enough that you would find minor doubling on just about every 5 oz ATB.

Could use better, clearer pictures of Foxwood's coin. That doesn't look like MDD. It it looks to have definite separation and clear notching of the serifs like hub doubling.

Machine Doubling on incuse devices looks remarkably similar to hub doubling, but it is not.

I have one of these and took it to the Long Beach Coin Show this weekend. I was told it was Machine Doubling. It was found to be pretty interesting anyway. My coin is heavily doubled all the way around and the image of the mountains and buffalo is also doubled. Here is a close up of the date. I do not know if it would get any kind of premium value or if it would even be noted or identified by a certification company at slabbing time. Any further thoughts?

Some of the Yellowstone's (P versions / US Mint coin) have strong Machine Doubling to various degrees. The one's I have seen pic's of affects different letters etc and have seen pic's of one where it affects more than ½ the lettering on the reverse.

Daweens coin is one good example of strong doubling. Nice coin.

Fwiw, some who bought these coins for a quick resale have decided to hang on to the one's with strong doubling.

I would like to see more of these images. This doesn't look like MD like most of the others. So please post more of this quarters images. This may finally be the first real deal for the ATB Quarter DDR devices on the rim.

Looked again and realized it was more of the Machine Doubling. Bummer. I though you have something there. The '1' raised my hopes. But it not a DDR. Bummer.
