I was going through my attic when I found some coins and two dollar bills. below is a list of what I found: 2 dollar bills x5 1907 Indian Head penny x1 1979 Susan B. Anthony half dollars x7 1972 Half Dollar (dont know who is on the front, eagle on back)x1 Half dollar that says 1776-1976 (same person on front as other half dollar, independence hall on back) x1 1904 One dollar coin (statue of liberty head on front, eagle on back) x1 One dollar coin that says 1776-1976 (don't know who is on front, liberty bell and moon on back) 1942 penny with "one cent" on back x1 and the one that I think looks the most valuable is a half dollar coin with who I *think* is christopher columbus on the front and a ship on the back, the year on the back says 1893. Also there were some foreign coins listed below: Canadian pennies x5 Canadian 10 cents x1 Canadian 5 cents x1 Canadian 25 cents x1 Australian golden one dollar 1986 Elizabeth II on front, dove and hands on back) x1 One silver coin with chinese sharacters, no year or anything One golden coin that *appears* to be Greek, 1994, 100 apaxme (thats the currency I guess) Man with horns on front, sun on back x1 Also I have sakajawea golden one dollar coins, all year 200, x9 Does anyone know if these are worth anything?

What years are the $2 bills? I'm guessing 1976. If they're totally crisp they're worth a small premium. If they're before 1976 and in decent shape they could be worth a bit more. What conditions is the 1904 silver dollar...does it look uncirculated? How about the Indian cent? What years are the Canadian coins? Pre-1969, many of them will have at least some silver

The bills are all 1976, all have a crease down the middle, otherwise no rips or tears. The 1904 one dollar actually looks very good, but thats coming from someone who knows nothing about coins. The Indian cent doesn't have any scratches or anything however it does have some type of green stuff on it.Canadian coins pre 1969, 1 cent 1963, 5 cents 1968.

this isn't a coin "1979 Susan B. Anthony half dollars x7" what you actually have if its a Susan B. Anthony coin it is a "dollar" not a half dollar coin, so instead of $3.50 face value it is $7.00 face. The 1904 is (from your description) a Morgan dollar and it is according to its condition on how much its worth, also is there a mint mark under the tail feathers of the eagle and if so what is it, if there is none then it was minted in Philadelphia. The 1776-1976 coins are Bicentennial coins minted in 1976 and the one dollar coin that you have with the liberty bell and moon on the back has a portrait of "Eisenhower" on the front, the half dollars from the same year has Kennedy on the front. The value of the 1907 Indian cent also is according to the condition of the coin and the mint mark or lack there of a mint mark. The 1942 cent is what is called as a " Wheat cent" because of the wheat stalks on either side of where it says "One Cent" on the reverse of the coin and again condition matters. The Bills will be date and condition that determines value also but I am not familiar with current prices on them, but if you could post some pics of the coins (one coin per picture) and do the same with the bills we may be able to at least give a ball park value on the collection but without them it is almost impossible to do (it is hard enough to give a value with pictures, but almost impossible to do with description of the coins alone)

I believe what you have here is the Columbian Exposition Half Dollar which is a Commemorative silver coin. It just happened to be the first such coin minted as a commemorative, and put in their appearance at the 1893 world's Fair in Chicago. A quite attractive coin and if in very good condition, it could be worth any where from $30 to several hundred dollars. Oh and by the way, welcome to the forum and we look forward to more of your posts.

I'm more confused as to you finding all that money in your attic. Who else lives or lived there? What kind of container was that all in or was it scattered all over the place? Who did it ever belong to? Basically what condition are all the coins in? How come you never found that stuff earlier? As to the overall value, nothing really stands out that you can retire just yet. However, pending condition some of the coins could be worth a little.

I have lived in the house for the past 17 years, my mom and grandmother for the past 20. My mother said that they were my dads (was not a coin collector just had them for some reason)and when he moved out he left a lot of his junk in the attic. All them coins were in a small wooden container with a velvet bottom. The wooden container was within an old dusty cardboard box. I never found the stuff earlier because we never go in the attic nevertheless go through old dust boxes up there. From my perspective (who knows nothing about coins) alot are in OK condtion. I will borrow a digital camera from someone to post pictures.

"1904 One dollar coin (statue of liberty head on front, eagle on back) x1" Yes, it sounds like a " Morgan dollar", which are made of Silver and therefore has value regardless of the condition of the coin. Approx $15-$20. But if it's in better than average condition and depending on mint mark can be worth hundreds. Nothing of fantastic value, but quite a good start to a collection of your own. Being from your father, I'd recommend you hang on to the coins for a few years at least. One day your children may be interested in the coin collection from Grandpa. A small collection like this is worth much more in sentimental value than monetary value. Welcome to the forum.
