I have got a roll of dimes that I really want to know what is inside of the roll. To see if there is any good dates or mistakes and things like that. Is a sealed roll worth more than the dimes alone?

Depends. If you can see the end and front of the roll and if it's UNC, you might want to reconsider. Else if it's not, it's definately rerolled by some other private companies, which you can open it.

Perhaps if you can describe how the roller cover is like, others may be able to tell you if it's a genuine mint roll.

The roll is sealed at both ends like with some of the paper coin holders you can get where one end is rolled up and sealed, well with this one both ends are that way. The coin on the one end looks like its in GREAT condition but the other end is a little more beat up, I dont know though if it could of been beat up from my mom just having the roll laying around for all these years or if it has been re rolled.

Can you see a date on either end? If you can't then I'd definitely open it to see what's inside. As a sometimes collector of rolls, it wouldn't have any value to me if I couldn't identify the date. Then I would consider the reliability of the seller. It's not uncommon to get a roll with two unc end coins and circulated inside.

The next consideration is the value of the coins in the roll. Are they worth more individually?

The last consideration is whether you are an error collector. After keeping a few rolls for my retirement, I open all the rest looking for BU mistrikes, off-centres, planchett errors, and Cuds.

I found these in new rolls
