WOW that's quite interesting. Is tripling something common amongst error varieties. I believe this is the first example of tripling I've seen. Maybe I just don't get into error varieties enough.

They are only struck once. The dies when loose can bounce at will during a normal strike, thus damaging the coin. A discussion point, but in relality is it just a damage coin.

Machine doubling, tripling, and quadrupling do occur, as your specimen shows. It's undoubtedly due to a vibrating die, die assembly, or press frame. One strike was involved.

I was not trying to imply with this post anything different than what it is..... A coin that I find fascinating due to doubling of the strike.......I apologise if the pun on words in the topic that was not received in fun way..... I wanted to share with everybody something I found in circulation that I have never seen before and find unique...... Does someone have an image of a coin with quadruple doubling that they are willing to share ? I'm keeping the coin I found as a specimen of tripling.....

Nice coin WildBill, I'd keep it too. No need to apologise, I don't think anybody is upset. Some are just more serious than others to make sure the right answer is posted...that's a good thing.
