I got a real nice mailing with regards to these. Is it just me or will this be a flop? $139 for each coin and stamp and they're plated. Maybe it's all in the low mintage?

The mint has not released anything concerning the Presidential dollars as of yet. And, they do NOT plate coins! And, regardless of what they are, $139 per coin and stamp will definitely make it a FLOP!!! This advertisement had to come from one on the fly-by night rip-off establishments that refer to themselves as a mint? Those Presidential dollars won't command that type of price from the mint and I have also seen nothing of a mention about Presidentail stamps from the USPS! I wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole!

Wow! Only $139 per coin. What a deal.
Sad thing is plenty of people will probably waste their money on something like this.

Be careful folks, "Tis the Season" and all sorts of these spurious offerings will be made to fleece the unsuspecting,,,I strongly urge anyone with questions about this type of thing to ask, as Sandpaper has, because the knowledge is available here in the forum to keep us from making the mistake of laying out our hard earned $ for junk like this.

Boy they word their description very well like "A meticulously sculpted stamp ingot and its inspiration." Which shows a real stamp with the plated stamp they are selling. Then over on the side in very small letters it says this "This website is owned and operated by Hallmark Group, LTD and is not affiliated with the U.S. Government. Hallmark Group, LTD is an Official Licensee of the U.S. Postal Service and the United States Mint. ©2005 Hallmark Group, LTD. Logos, symbols, and trademarks of the U.S. Postal Service and the United States Mint used under license. All rights reserved" which means they are a resaler of their products but they take some of them and replate them with precious metals and make reproductions in metals that was never meant to be made by the mint as tribute peices like they did with the "president dollars" that they now call "presidential medals" they take a original coin and layer it with the gold, they describe that here "All of these Presidential Medals are struck in bronze by the United States Mint using dies made from the original engravings. Each is about the diameter of a classic U.S. $20 gold coin and weighs 20 grams before it is layered in pure 24-karat gold." which means they get the originals from the mint made from the original dies (duh) and then they plate them and sale them as presidential medals

This is ANOTHER typical example of how we can help one another here at this great forum. There is NO WAY in a life time these coins will ever be worth the asking price. Most plated coins, gold or silver, have less than 3mm of the precious metal layered over the original coin. Be smart and buy REAL coins at REAL market prices. Protect yourself and your hard earned money as there are scams everywhere!

Your bank should have them available at face value.
