1938/1939 Nazi Medals (Pics Inside)

I can imagine a scenario where a German soldier would sell off all the medals he'd acquired during the war, to raise a little money as well as to disassociate himself from the Nazi party, and then an Allied soldier buying the medals as war souvenirs. It's a possibility.

Thanks! I think they sell medals and stuff like that on ebay. However they wont allow people to sell these ones with the nazi symbol on them. I was going to try and list it to see what kind of response I got...They took the listing down within 12 hours. I had a few offers for all of them. The highest being $260.00 CAD...it got a tonne of attention though. Within those 12 hours, I had 6 questions about them including the "buy it now" option because people wanted them before ebay removed it. I couldnt put a price on them because I just dont know their value...so I said no and to bid away.

It's neato that there was so much interest in them in such a short period of time.

Incorrect

It all depends on your country you are selling from and shipping to. Germany, France, Austria and I think Italy aren't allowed to have them online for sale but you can totally find them on ebay from sellers in the US all the time.

Actually I could be wrong on this. They might have changed their rules recently as I can't find a single auction with a swastika except for stamps and coins.

Still though for even those there are restrictions concerning which countries they can be shipped to legally.

Yes I did sell them all for that. There were 6 people interested via email and they were all bidding on it. 3 dropped out at $200 but the other three stayed up until the end. The last two dropped out when the final guy offered $375. I know that 1939 Bars to the Iron Crosses 1st Class can go anywhere from $190-$1000 depending on what kind it is. So the people bidding asked for up close photos of the back of the medals...so I will assume my eagle wasnt the really rare and expensive one. A couple of the other medals were $30-$60 retail (ie the merit medal)

A german fellow offered me $425 but I said no because it would have cost me more to send it to him.

France and some other countries do not allow importation of Nazi memorabilia. When ebay wanted to expand ebay.com, the French gubmint griped about those items. Instead of manning up and telling France to deal with their own customs problem, ebay agreed to not allow most Nazi memorabilia on any ebay site. So even tho it's perfectly legal to trade such items in the US, you can't do it on ebay.

All such material is highly collectable. A friend of mine had a watch that was given to Goering (?) as a Christmas present by Hitler. The idiots at Sotheby's and Christy's turned it down as not likely to meet their $5,000 lot minimum. They auctioned it through a Yurrupeen dealer who has sold like 7 of the 10 most valuable watches in the world, for a little under a half million USD.

Interestingly enuf, the listing made no mention of Hitler or anyone else, but it showed the watch (except for the engraving) and traced it to the manufacturer, who confirmed that they originally sold it to the jeweler Hitler bought most stuff from. That wasn't mentioned, but people spending that much money already know that kind of background. I got to see the engraving pix that weren't in the listing.
