*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***My wife an I are both Active Duty AF. She is currently retraining and will be getting a decent bonus for doing so. So she has allowed me to spend a nice size of it on my coin(s). I have been looking and looking and everything I see I want! I can't make up my mind........SO this is where the members of CCF come in. I would like you to spend my money on a coin. the coin of course will be added to my collection though. Here are my guidelines: *$550 MAX! (If you find a great coin that's worth $100 that's fine to. It DOES NOT have to be a $500. that's just my limit) *I want a coin that is pre 1900 *Any Denomination *EBay is the playing field *You cannot promote your own coins *Graded coins are good but not necessary (NGC/PCGS) *If it is raw I will be sending it into PCGS *From what people post I will go through each option and select the 5 I like best *I will then put up a poll and let the members choose what I buy out of the 5 selected coins. Things to remember: *I will probably be putting in my bids on Monday so make sure the auction runs through Monday evening. To the Person with the winning Submission: A grab bag with a chance at: LWC, Merc, Barb/Wash/Stand Quart, Frank/Walk Half, Morgan/Peace dollar. Details will be revealed afterwards.

That's a neat idea. I like this one. There's no connection between me and the seller but they offer a fair return policy if it doesn't suit you. Good Luck! 1834 Bust Quarter [eBayItem]290575500338[/eBayItem]

What about multiple entries from the same person? This should also probably be in contests section and you might have to set a rule for new members?

I agree to multiple entries. A limit of 3 though. So Choose wisely wheezy :)

I thought of a wrinkle- you go through this whole process, get the top 5, then poll for the winning coin. Great. Then you bid on it and lose :-( The other runner-up coins might also already be sold by the time you find out about the one you are bidding on.
The coin above is nice but a lot of cheek dings and looks cleaned. If you are going to spend hundreds on one coin, I'd probably suggest a certified specimen.
This needs to be moved to contest area, I agree. I'll send a note to staff.

I think my idea has many wrinkles but who knows, maybe in the heat of bidding I will go over my max. This is basically my test run. If it works or doesn't work I will still reward the winner. Then the next time I do this I will make adjustments. I will post the poll for the top 5 on Sunday so there is time. I also though of another wrinkle; I will not bid $500 on a nice common LWC, just in case someone wants to run my up knowing my limit lol. I will bid respectively on fair market value.

I like that Trade dollar, not sure how popular it is vs other coins like morgans, etc but still a neat piece of history!
