Yup, the Midnight Mint and Daniel Carr - beautiful re-strikes, but they go for a lot on ebay, at least for now. Not sure if/when they'll come down, there are a limited number. I have a couple, some folks don't like them, consider them fakes or counterfeits

D.C. makes 'fantasy' coins, such as the 1964 Peace dollar. He has also made coins with his likeness on them. Seems kinda vain, if you ask me.

There are very few true coin designer/engravers among us these days. Daniel Carr is one of them. The New York and Rhode Island State Quarters are his designs. His Denver Mint Commemorative is an absolute classic, IMO. I have his Denver and Tesla Commemoratives, as well as other of his work, and they won't be leaving my collection.

You should check out their web site Moonlight Mint. Alot of cool stuff. Most but not all are high priced "IMHO" Also his stuff must be popular because most of it is either NA or sold. John1

Thanks for the info JBuck. I'm very suprised that these are getting any support for numismatists anywhere. Thanks again.

I am on the side of the fence that thinks these are too close to counterfeits. I'm not getting all up in arms over it, but I don't think it is a good thing either.

I love many of his design. Its sad his Sacagawea dollar wasn't selected. It's quite gorgeous.

I like some of his designs as well. His Sacagawea obverse was better but I like the revers they used instead. And, I read somewhere that his hopes of designing the overstrike coins is to bring about legislation that helps counteract the blight of counterfitting. I hope it does.

I have some of his work as well but nothing like this, they are actual things he designed. I am one of the ones that feel this type of thing does nothing but a disservice to the collecting community now and for future generations. If there ever were a "real" 1964-D Peace dollar found it would be over looked by experts as one of these junky over strikes. Not to mention the non collector that knows nothing of this practice in the future that buys one thinking it is real. There is just to many negatives that out weigh any positives this type of coin could ever do to the hobby for me to agree with it
