I don't understand ebay sellers that have auctions on Mercury dimes and DON'T have photos showing the reverse! What's up with that? I refuse to bid without seeing the all important back of the coins! What perplexs me also is why also do buyers bid on these? I don't understand.

Well, are these sellers who are offering lots at melt prices or are these supposed to be respectable coins? If they are supposed to be quality examples, that there is no excuse for that! I use the indicators on the reverse as my primary guide for grading mercs. Ridiculous. They are either cheap, lazy, or have something to hide :)

I have seen quite a few FSB Mercurys that are much weaker in strike on the obverse, and only a couple that are as fully struck up on the obverse as they are on the reverse.

Were the obverse dies kept in production for a longer period?

Makes it a lot easier to make a buying decision!

If you are going to buy these coins the way I do, you NEED to see them in hand.

First picture is free per listing. Second and anything else is pay per pics, unless seller do there own html coding.

A lot of seller that's sell low price coins don't want to spend the time? I don't bid on those either, and if I have doubt, I will request additional pictures from seller.

They are probably just going for melt. Or it is the cost of the second photo. Or laziness, as stated above. Or a combination of these.

Cheers.
