I think when they pressed this coin there was a drop of molten zink or nickel in the mold, so there is a patch of silver coller on this coin. But on the other hand the thin copper plating could have been rubed off exposing the zink.

This coin was struck with steel dies on a copper planchet. The area under the bust has patina on it from being wet at one time.

the mint mark is doble stamped.

It is repunched on the die. Each coin made with this die will have the same RPM on them.
