1862 IHC in G or VG (can't remember which). Absolutely blew us away when we found it. It was in a normal red and white roll.

Im new to roll hunting. I think I have been through to boxes of pennies ($50 bucks worth) my oldest is a 1947 Wheatie. I have found some really nice ones from the 50's-70's...Several of them look like the are fresh off the mint. I really am not searching for old coins...I am looking for errors and anything shiney and pretty that is older. Good way to pass some time...good luck.

Update: XaiverofGreen has the oldest find so far, a 1842 large cent. Although it wasn't found roll searching, it's the oldest coin found.

This is not from roll searching but I had to post this anyway. My wife is a retail manager and she finds coins in the cash drawer on a regular basis. Here are the oldest finds so far:
1901 Indian cent
1902 Liberty nickel
1916 Mercury dime
1936 Washington quarter
1963 Franklin half in PROOF

I found a 1870 Canadian silver 5 cent coin laying on the floor of a warehouse back in the 80's, but roll searching a few months ago I found a 1920 Wheat cent in pretty good condition.
