Florida.
Funny this is, in WA state all you have to do is get finger printed at the Police Station and pay $35.00.
They run the prints, if everything is fine with your prints, you pay an additional $25.00 for your permit, right there on the spot it is issued.
Down here it is almost $200.00 and takes almost three months to get your cert......

Freedom: It runs about $150 in Kentucky; $85 for the class and another $60 for county and state inspections. Its good for 5 years, and then another $60 to make sure your still not a felon.
I was at a gun show in Ft Walton earlier this year, and ask a state tropper what the laws were about buying and selling handguns. He told me it didn't matter to them who you were or where you are from. Caught me as being odd.

1 - I feared for my life or another. (or sexual assault or kidnapping. These are the ONLY three times lethal force may be used)
2 - I am traumatized by this event. (state of mind statement - no need for the physchology lesson here - just say this sentence)
3 - I am requesting an attorney. (you have invoked your right, even if NOT charged. ALL investigators want you to talk prior to being charged - DON'T do it....no matter how much in the right you "think" you are)
4 - I will fully cooperate with the investigation after consulting an attornedy. (advises that you are willing to cooperate, but only after speaking with your interview).
Do NOT give any statements until your attorney is present. Period.

Wish he would go to my buddy's shop in Goldsboro NC and try that. There are at least three visible weapons at any given time plus the one he has tucked into the small of his back. When I am there you can add two Taurus Judges to the count, one loaded with 45 long colts and the other with Federal personal defense rounds. I feel that some day he will have to move his shop as the hood is rapidly encroaching on the are he is in and it was once a very nice area of town.

I live in WA state. My initial permit cost around $60. My renewels (about every 5 years) cost $30. And yes, we get them on the spot.
Kinda crazy for a liberal state like mine!

Coin collecting is different in Canada, men here pack something in their pants that allows them to deal with unarmed nut jobs without the need for guns.

Well said DBM. There is abolutley no need for a firearm to disuade an unarmed man. In the land of baseball one of them bats would be ample. I own a few rifles and there is no way that I would pull them on anyone.

Quote: Coin collecting is different in Canada, men here pack something in their pants that allows them to deal with unarmed nut jobs without the need for guns. To old to depend on what is in my pants. If my life is on the line, the old motto of "Two to the chest and One to the head" works just fine for me. You see, I have a family that needs me, not to mourn at my grave because some meth'd/cracked out individual wants to do me harm. Sorry if Canadian folks see it different but in the south it is a way of live here. Leave me alone and you will be fine. Now if you depend on "What is in your pants" to defend yourself and the other guy has a gun, what do you then? Take them out and start playing with them? Just wondering. It is always better to have and not need than to need and not have. - Wisdom

I lived in Puyallup from 1983 to 1999, that was the price I was quoting and Ironically, if you add the two prices together they total $60.00. Do they charge that for just the permit or do you have to pay seperately for the fingerprinting?

Trout1105, did you use to run a Forum and a fishing charter on a desolate island in Aussie with your kids?

Right because you know for sure he is unarmed and not hiding a blade or gun somewhere on him or may be ex-special forces gone bad with superior training to what you have in your pants. That kind of ignorant thinking is what gets the good guys injured badly or killed. Sorry, I'm 6'3" and 230 pounds and can hold my own, but not taking a chance with the way people are today. If you want to duke it out, take up boxing or MMA but when it comes to protecting myself and my loved ones, I have no problem presenting the peacemaker.

oh my God, DBM => you made me spray coffee out of my snout, as I read your response! Quote: Coin collecting is different in Canada, men here pack something in their pants that allows them to deal with unarmed nut jobs without the need for guns. I'm Canadian as well, and although I'm glad that we have strict gunlaws, if I was standing beside those two dudes from the states, I would have looked pretty stupid when everybody drew their weapons and I was standing there with my Johnson in my hand! => Freeze Mutha a!!
