Its hard to get decent pictures of these smaller coins. Still, what do you think? Is there anything particularly special about this coin?

Thanks.

There IS something special about this coin: it is in much better condition than most other farthings of this period.

Nice coin; congrats.

Nice farthing. I've got some old farthings, a 1675 in fair, that one in the pic is nice condition.

It's very collectible, I may say, it's a very fine to good very fine coin, most farthings from that era don't come that good. Stick to it!. (the ones I have are much worse than this)

Hello, I have what appears to be the exact same coin except we find the date 1799 below the lovely lady instead of '1 farthing'. The flip side is the same as yours. Anyone have an explanation? Thanks. Robert.

RobRoy, yours is, I expect, a halfpenny. What diameter is yours ?
You can get an idea of the farthing, above, by the surrounding 2x2. The farthing is 23mm.
The halfpenny of 1799 was 30.5mm.

Thanks for the reply. Quite right. Turns out it is a half penny. I discovered this when I dug further into the bag and unearthed a farthing! ;) I'm having a real difficult time with one coin: Georgi VS III E Gratia on one side and W. Foster 1 d(d is underlined) on the other. Can't find it. What do you think? Cheers. Robert.
