So I've been browsing this guys ebay page and he has pretty cool stuff. I'm pretty sure he's a member here on coin community...He has some really unique and rare stuff on his page from time to time regarding silver - stuff I don't see too often Anyway, he recently put up this really cool Harry Truman Silver Round. It caught my interest because it seems pretty rare and unique - not too often you find presidential silver rounds, especially like the one on here. I just think its cool. Anyway, here it is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...t_500wt_1220As you can see its pretty cool and unique - and he has a nice size reference there. Its a bit bigger than the Kennedy half dollar - so as he said, its probably around 4/10 to half an ounce of silver. What do you guys think the value of this? I plan on bidding, I just don't want to overbid. Im thinking theres going to be a bit of a premium because it has to do with a president - a very good one at that... Well unfortunately the listing was removed so I have no idea. Quote: Im thinking theres going to be a bit of a premium because it has to do with a president Actually presidential medals aren't worth any more then most others. Mainly people are looking at the metal content over anything else.

Quote: as it states on the edging of the coin. I'd love to see a picture of that. Quote: The round is approximately 4/10 - 1/2 an ounce of silver Is that a guess? Quote: It is a rare coin, and has a high book value to the commemorative value. I'd love to see the book he is using. Quote: NO Mills or plated silver That he knows of. Quote: No Returns Accepted Sounds Legit. I found this on a different listing of his. Quote: Looks to be pure silver. I, however, do not know much about it. Could be an amazing buy. Seems legit. --------------------------- Ok so there are a Lot of red flags here with the most important one being this is an amatuer that is promissing something he can;t verify. More then likely the coin is Pewter and not silver. Very rarily will you find a silver coind with that deep style of relief. Best of luck to you but I'd pass. There's a Lot of other silver coins on the interwebs. Welcome to the forum

Ok I had time do some digging. I'm gonna eat my words instead of deleting my post.... Quote: You are buying the HARRY S. TRUMAN silver art medal from Presidential Art Medals' "Presidential Series", serial #5420. Designed by Ralph Menconi, this high relief medal was struck at Medallic Art Co. and released in the early 1960s. Measuring 1.25" in diameter, this medal contains approximately .8 troy ounces of .999 pure silver. The coin is good but I personally don't trust the seller. Not because he is new but rather because he presumes to be a coin seller and doesn't know what he has. Hopefully I've given you some info that you can take and run with.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...t_500wt_1220Hello GO :) Well I'm sorry to hear that you don't trust me as a seller. It is unfortunate, for both you and myself. It really is a shame when you lose a customer over having little knowledge on a product Anyway, I uploaded a picture of the coin for you on the ebay listing proving it is .999 PURE silver. And I apologize for knowing little about the coin. I have not seen any grace Ebays sight in some time now. I've been looking to unload the coin for a long time, but really did not know what to say in the description. As you can see, it is an old coin. I myself was not anywhere near alive in the 60s, and was given the coin by my grandfather. My grandfather was a master coin collector, and passed on to me about 100 ounces of silver. I'm looking to sell a little now. So I would first like to thank you for uncovering the details about this medallion, as I was very interested in finding them out. It helps me out knowing more about the item, especially the exact weight. Secondly, I would like to say EVERYTHING I list in my ebay listings are true. I only sell genuine, .999 silver. I am honest at heart. No mills or plated crap. I took a shot at the weight by knowing the weight of a kennedy coin, and comparing the two sizes. So while I do appreciate your effort to uncover the truth of the coin, it saddens me that you automatically write off someone as a scammer. And because of that, you could have had a great buy. I am now going to change it to .8 troy ounces. You could have gotten it for the price of half an ounce.

Its just hard posting an accurate description when you have missing pieces of the puzzle.

Rbethell11, My apologies. Maybe I should have taken down by initial posting Thank you for understand my viewpoint. I tried to make it as simple as possible without it turning into a seller bashing post. Quote: Its just hard posting an accurate description when you have missing pieces of the puzzle. That's why we are here. With the combined knowledge of this community we can find any information on any coin ever made. You are more then welcome to ask for help if it can in turn help you sell your piece on ebay just a little easier. FYI I did a Google search for "Truman silver medal" and then checked the images tab. I found a corresponding picture and found that description on another sellers page.

Yeah the weird thing about the medal is that its so oddly shaped, and the silver is very washed out, I couldn't believe it was pure silver - until I finally decided to look at the side where I saw that super tiny .999.
Its neat - just...odd..
apparently the entire set is pretty valuable if one can put it together. I've never seen a full silver set

It is a really life-like portrayal of Truman. I think that it's a really high quality piece.

My grandfather was a huge coin collector - and he just gave it to me. In some money troubles right now I'm selling maybe 5% of his stuff.
I have to admit its really cool. I myself am a big fan of historical memorabilia, but not so much bullion.
I'd rather it be in the hands of someone who really appreciates it.

I like that you put the weight in troy oz, that shows honesty to me.

All credit goes to GO...lol
My first listing was a train wreck - any knowledgable buyer would have been a very happy camper after bidding
I listed it as approximately .4 ounces of silver - when it reality its twice that, and stated it was modern, when in reality it was made in the 60s - LOL
Thank god for GO - he saved me from letting a great piece go for about half - 3/4 of what its truly worth
