A little harsh, no? It's kinda like saying, "Well, you owe me five bucks. But I only take ten dollar bills."
Also, that seems like it could be illegal. Not accepting legal tender anyway.

You are under no obligation to accept any coins. you may do business with or without coins...

Yeah, now that I've thought about it, being illegal does sound kinda silly.

What is the point of that? It's not like it's going to stop the production of pennies. Besides, minting other coins costs us money, why don't they just not except cash/coins at ALL and go credit only?

I am currently cruising their website, looking for something to buy from them. As an avid biker, I will be successful.

Of course, one could be pedantic and ask them if they accept one cent coins, instead of pennies.

Quote: What is the point of that? It's not like it's going to stop the production of pennies. Besides, minting other coins costs us money, why don't they just not except cash/coins at ALL and go credit only? What is the point? Publicity. People hear about that, post that sign everywhere almost as a joke, talk about it and guess what, lots of free publicity. Note how it's working already right here. And I'm sure this is being repeated on other coin forums, miscellaneous forums, possibly on TV also as a almost joke and again, guess what. Lots and lots of publicity. And think about that second statement of how pennies cost us time. 2.4 hours a year? Who did that study? Where is the facts on that one? Why 2.4 and not 3.1839 hours or 4.43591 hours? Makes no difference since it is for publicity only. Owner of that place is laughing all the way to the bank.

Bingo, Carl. It's already all over the internet. Lots of eco groups have jumped on the bandwagon, inc. treehugger. Some state we fumble with the cents over 12 hrs. per year. Dont know if it'll sell any bikes, but with 9 locations in Ca;........nevermind, got me to look, at least.

they are rounding down? Example: so if a bill is $3.07 and they round down to $3.05 Can I give them 3 one dollar bills and 5 LSC? I don't have any other change on me

Seeing as how YOU cost the merchant a fee every time you insist on using plastic instead of cash, why should you have you're bill rounded down..?

Perhaps a kid came in with a wheelbarrow of pennies, wanting a new bicycle?
