Ordered the grand kids each a proof American Eagle as a stocking stuffer for x-mas. Two look perfect. Two have mechanical tripling on the date, the feet and the island or ground she's standing on. The one pictured is quadrupled in the same areas. Three out of five messed up doesn't say much for the mints quality control.

Images aren't close enough to show the anomaly - but three out of five with the same sort of problem tells me they are very common.

If you ordered late in the issue, then what they sent may have been coins returned from prior sales and rejected for just those reasons. You come along and they reissue them in hopes of someone finally keeping them and saving the mint of melting them and starting over next year.
IN the ASE issue it pays to order early and you will come out with much better coins (usually).

Gonna hang on to the quadrupled coin. Just as a curiosty piece. Sent two back and ordered three more. Hope they do a little better this time.
