Hi I am new to this forum! I have a 1909 here that looks like a cross/Bow Tie? What do you guys think. This is the best I can do with the zoom in on my qx5

The picture is not that great, you can't see the bowtie. But what makes me think that it would be is that there is no such thing as a 1909 round leaves with JUST a cross.

Please do not rely on Charleton's number of "Only 4 Known"......ICCS informed CERTAIN collectors as to this Variety 2 years (2007) before it was openly discussed by ICCS.......... I have 12. But then again.......I like nickels......

I don't know whether it is a 'bow tie' or not but, I know it's a nice looking 1909

The new Charlton Standard Catalogue 66th Edition I received in the mail today has this coin at $4000.00 in AU-50 if it turn out to be ML Cross/Bow Tie

Gorgeous coin, but I doubt it would fetch more than $1000 if listed on ebay starting at $1.

Someone got really burned on Torex, getting that one in worse condition for almost $4000.

A weird variety, so tiny you need a 40x microscope to see it, and even then its iffy.

Better nickel varieties out there IMO.

Variety collecting is very strange...
