Roosevelt dimes don't seem popular with errors or to collectors. Why's that? Are there any particular years with certain errors I should keep my eyes open when going through Roosevelt dimes?

Are you talking about errors or die varieties? No particular year is any better than any other for errors. They are random in occurrence.

As for die varieties - depends on whether you are talking about the silver ones or the clad ones. There are plenty of nice RPMs and doubled dies in the silver years, along with a few OMMs. 1964 and 1964D have some nice DDRs, and 1946 is loaded with DDOs.

The clad years simply don't have much worth looking for except for some rather rare doubled dies. Check the Cherrypicker's Guide for specifics. If you don't have one and are looking for die varieties - I would suggest you find one. It is an absolute must for die variety hunters.

Also The 1964 's Have Pointed and Blunt tail Varieties as well .. I also Have asked for Coin Books for Christmas ... I have a 1955 S with a serif Not listed in the Breen Catalogue or A few others so I am Wanting to Find out about it My self. With Early Silver Roosies there is a good Possibility of finding a Double Die Mint Mark D? over D etc.

I did find my first silver Rosey the other day. At least it will be a short search with only one silver Roos.

No I am not. But I went through a few rolls of dimes just to look at something different for a change and several questions came to my head. I just don't remember anyone ever mentioning that they were a Roos. dime collector and I got curious as to why that is.

I am personally I have a couple Set's , they are affordable to put together even in Unc , and can be found easily . There are a lot of add on coins for the set Different Die Varieties, Double Dies , Double mint marks , Different Serifs used for the mint marks, Pointed 9 and blunt 9 varieties . If you are OCD like me LOL.. this makes the set really neat to collect , because of the affordability, easy access and My obsessiveness

Lots of Roosie varieties have room for price escalation. Start at the very beginning with a high grade gem full torch type one 1946. Who even knows about that one? Not many. Add any very high grade gem full torch variety and hold your nose.

Imazing what one can learn after 50 years of market ignorance. And no, I do not own these any more.. Looking tho.

Lead...Do not follow. That way ya stay ahead.

None of my coins were sought after when purchased. Would ya believe that a Morgan dollar 1887 VAM 1B MS62-3 was had for less than 20 bucks? Currently the finest known? The market did not then know. And still does not. But I tell you that it exists. In Fact. EDS to boot!

When I started collecting, I collected Very High grade gem full step Jeff nickels, full bell line Franklin half dollars, and full torch Roosies. They were all that I could afford... Again, No one wanted them... Not the case now.

I still enjoy and seek them.

I also look for all transitional coinages.

In addition, on the cheap you can seek out Washington quarters with the B and C reverses, DDO and DDR Kennedys, off metal errors and such. Most are still relatively cheap. And you can still cheerypick them. And in finest known condition. And guess what happens then?... 100-200 percent per annum returns without ripping off anybody! It happens.

There are also my personal, if I had the money, long time favorites... Cameo P.L. business strike minor coinages.

Those!.. and if I really had the money... rare cameo patterns and old proof cameo gold coins.... As if!

After all, what are the 1804 silver dollar and the 1913 nickel? Patterns... with a bunch of marketing hype. Cool coins to be sure but not the rarest coins.

Numistmatics is one of the few truely American equalizers left. Ya donna gotta be a rich. Just aware.

If you buy the books first, you will learn and profit. You will afford yourself the opportunity to share your wealth of knowledge with others. In the process you will certainly enrich yourself and those around you.

Can it get any better than that?

Roosies... Get them while you can. Save your money for the finest known and rarest VVEDS coins that you can get. Within reason.

Hope this helps... God Bless, enjoy, and good luck... Gusp
