In the dimes section of Dansco's type collection, it has no hole for the 1837-1838 variety with no stars on the obverse.
Anyone know why they elected not to include this major design style?

Why don't you ask Dansco? I suspect since it is a two year type and they can't have all of the one and two year type coins included. The 1853-55 with arrows types were included and yet the 1873-74 with arrows weren't. Why one must ask, to have the one and not the other? It would make sense to add these short lived type coins as they too are major types of their own accord. Ed ANA LM-3175

Quote: Why don't you ask Dansco? Sometimes not a bad idea. There are so many slots in Albums for coins that make no CENTS. I too wonder why we all don't start bombarding manufacturers about what they demand we put in the Albums. For example I have an old Whitman Folder with a slot of the 1913 Liberty Head Nickel. Many Albums from them have slots for the 1955 Double Die Cent. Maybe, but I doubt it, if enough people started to contact companies like Dansco, Whitman, etc about what should be in the Albums, they would listen.

There are a lot of different types left out of the 7070. For example, they chose not differentiate the Lincoln Cent change in 1982 or the 40% silver clad versus the Cu-Ni clad half dollars. I am a big fan of the the "it never hurts to ask" club. Dansco Corporation (323) 734-6373 4313 W Jefferson Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90016

Quote:they chose not differentiate the Lincoln Cent change in 1982 Hmm, my dansco 7100 has 7 different slots for the different 1982's. Maybe older ones didn't and there were complaints and now they do. Who knows.

What I was surprised by was that there was a War Nickel slot along with the "normal" Jefferson slot and the same for the 90% Kennedy slot vs. the "normal" Kennedy but no separate slots for the copper/zinc break of the ol' LMC. But, I suppose one could start asking a lot of questions about the 7070--such as--why have four slots for commemorative half dollars but only one for dollars? They have to draw the line somewhere that meets the needs for the majority of collectors but as far as trying to get into their heads, well, I'd expect the only ones who can tell you are them. Either that or they just needed to do what needed to get done to make their pages line up pretty like. Murrellington, I recently bought the 7100 and just about had a freak out when I saw the 1982 slots. It's my first go round with Lincoln Cents but, dude, 7 holes for one year! Madness...

But yes I think it would have been nice to have two slots in the 7070 for Memorial cents. The copper to zinc was a big change. But my goodness, what are they going to do to the 7070 in the future. They're going to have to add a few more cent slots, for the 2009 and then for the shield cents. And then for Washington quarters they will need an additional slot for national park quarters. You just can't keep up.

Well, technically the 7070 is a 19th & 20th Century Type Set, so anything that has happened since 2000 is irrelevant. That being said, it would take a couple of pages to bring it up-to-date! We also had those nifty nickels from 2004~2005 and a new permanent nickel in 2006. Do not even get me started on the baby dollars!

Never knew it was strictly 19th and 20th Century. Thought it was just 19th century to present. Glad to hear though, there are too many new designs for each denomination to try to spark interest. It totally turns me away from all of the new stuff though. The only thing I got sucked in to is the national park quarters, just because they are so beautiful! By the way I can't stand those Presidential dollars. First off they look like arcade tokens. Second of all dollars should be big. Lets get back to stuff like Morgans..... or ikes ;)

Only trivial. There are 20 different 2009 Lincoln Cents you know. In the near future there will be 1,000,000 pages in the Dansco 7070 but not sure what the number will be. It will be for all US coins from the present to as far back as man made coins. The Indians used Wampum I think so there would have to be slots for those too.
