there was a time that I had around 2500 a month to spend on my collection (which came in handy considering one 1878 Morgan in MS-65 is about 1200.00) but recently it has dropped to nothing but hopoefully I will be able to start back up as soon as everything settles down here at home and everything gets back to normal

The amount I spend goes up and down quite a bit. It would probably average out to about $125.00 to $150.00 per month.
While the amount spent should hold steady, my number of purchases will be going down in the future. I've been filling holes in albums with the more common coins and also taking coins from circulation. Now its time to move on to the more expensive coins in my sets.

It varies.
November was a big month in that my wife bought a $2 1/2 Indian gold piece, and a gold Panda. She will be paying those off for several months to come.
We collect from circulation, and buy coins from our local (40 miles away) coin dealer.
What we spend often depends on what is left over after paying all the bills. And, that's usually very little.

It's interesting because I have been in a few different categories over the years. I collected for a few years in the late 80s-1990, when I was 10-13 or so. Back then it was maybe $10-15 a month.
Then I would buy a $50 coin every month or two for a couple years in the 2000-01 range. I got out of collecting again after that for a few years, (moved away from the local dealer that I really liked).
Now I'm getting on to bigger things, with the estimated $200/month. Hoping to get some key/semi-keys this year, and some moderate/high grade coins for a type set. Will probably buy mostly online at this point though.

I usually spend $500 to $1000 per month. Some months that could be 50 coins and some months it could be one.

I mostly rely on circulated finds. I have found some really great coins in circulation. It also helps that I worked in retail for 10+ years.

I have only been collecting for about 3 weeks now. I have spent alot of money in those 3 weeks. Because I am trying to get a complete collection of Proof Commemoratives and a complete collection of Proof Silver Eagles. I will probable spend close to $1,000 or more a month untill I complete these two collections. At this point I only need 9 more Silver Eagles and about 20 of the commemoratives to completed both collections. Will have to see how things work out.

As already noted this is a difficult topic. With almost anyone there are ups and downs in spending for coins as well as with everything else. I've spent thousands in one month on coins and then nothing for a long time. So much depends on so many other items in life. For example with Winter now in full blast I don't spend so much on my cars so more time and money available for coins. The reverse to that is with bad weather I don't go to as many coin shows either. Since my time and money is also split between guns, knives, cars, archery and many other hobbies, coin spendature varies extensively.

Well I used to spend tons of money, prior to my losing a job of 28 years, so now instead of buying everything that suited my fancy I must concentrate on specific coins and go from there! Money is NOT abundant at this time so I go with what I got and, with a little trading, I remain in the hobby. Today (YES TODAY) I brought home 3 Buffalo nickels which cost me $112.00, two 2006 proof Jefferson nickels at $3.00 each and a Buffalo Silver Round for 14.00. That pretty much wiped me out for a while!!!

My collection is an accumulation of my Mothers collection and of mine for the last 45+ years. I'm probably in the $250-$500 range but, some months lower, some higher. A lot depends on what holes I need to fill and what strikes my fancy. Right now I'm looking for Commens, Foreign, ASE's and gold for savings instead of the bank.

I spend as much as I can afford to on coins each month. Since I only work 3 days a week(school for 15hr a week is enough) and paying off a credit card and a monthly cell phone bill, I'm collecting ASE. The most I will spend in a month is 200. My dad is also in the hobby and he can afford to spend more than I. We share our collection. He likes Morgans and 2006 Buffaloes for their metal content and design. He's not into the slabbed Morgans, though I did convince him to buy one slabbed Buffalo UNC, just because 2006 is the first year they were minted.. In the last month or two I bought: 1- 1996 UNC ASE1- 20th Anniversary set ASE1- Old San Francisco Mint Silver UNC comm 2- 2006 "W" BU ASEMy dad picked up a set of ASE 20th Anniversary also/
