Anyone know what this (http://www.ramint.gov.au/media/noti...20110824.cfm ) is all about? Has anyone done one?

No to both. However, given an opportunity< I would question why 2011 Australian coins would have non-indigenous animals on the, I also want the Wedding set returned to Specimen rather than proof. And they stop minting so many coins. And I hate have to buy several sets to get one complete set......blah blah!

16 Aug: I received an email from the Research Co that has been given the project. They were looking to survey collectors who fitted 1 of these categories:

No coins purchased from the Royal Australian Mint in the last 4 years;
1 coin purchased from the Royal Australian Mint in the last 4 years;
2 to 5 coins purchased from the Royal Australian Mint in the last 4 years; and
6 or more coins purchased from the Royal Australian Mint in the last 4 years.

I responded and got a call from them last week that set up a time for the survey, and I participated yesterday. Took about an hour, I tried to cover as many of the things that people have mentioned on various forums, bring back mint rolls, how about a mint set that contains all the circulating coins for that year, getting a specific response that addresses a specific query rather than a generic response that addresses nothing, etc...etc...etc...

For my effort, I am going to receive a $90 voucher to spent at the RAM.

Nice. Did they ask anything specific?

Lots of very specific questions, mostly about my collecting preferences, why I collect, what I collect, where I buy from, that sort of thing.

Sadly my short term memory is 'shot' so I can't tell you much about the rest of the interview.

If I remember anything I'll try to jot it down to report here later.

Dear Royal Australian Mint Subscriber,
Colmar Brunton Social Research (CBSR) has recently been engaged by the Royal Australian Mint (RAM) to undertake research with its collector and subscriber base to understand current brand perceptions and to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.

As a subscriber to the Mint Issue, the Royal Australian Mint's newsletter, we would like to invite you to join the ‘Your Mint Story' community, an exclusive online space for coin collectors and Royal Australian Mint customers. The ‘Your Mint Story' community is a new initiative by the Mint, and will look to explore your background as a coin collector, your views on the Mint's current range or products and services, and your reactions to potential new brand strategies into the future.

Joining the Your Mint Story community doesn't just benefit the Royal Australian Mint. By completing the below survey and logging into the community upon launch, you will go into the draw to win one of four $250 Mint gift vouchers. Additional prizes will also be available during the course of the community, details of which will be revealed over the communities 8 week duration.

Or copy and paste the link below into your internet browser

What does taking part in our community involve? Basically, we'll ask you to log in at least once a week over the course of an 8 week program and participate in a range of research activities including discussions, polls, short surveys and live chat sessions. At the end of the study, we'll also share with you what we have learned and how your input has influenced the Mint in terms of improving their range of products and services.

The ‘Your Mint Story' community will be launching in early September and as a subscriber to Mint Issue, we want you to be a part of the project. As members of the Australian Market and Social Research Society (AMSRS), Colmar Brunton strictly abides by all privacy legislation in undertaking any market research activity. All personal details will be destroyed at the conclusion of the research in December 2011, and all responses will remain anonymous.

If the ‘Your Mint Story' community sounds like something you would be willing to participate in, please click the link below to begin a short survey to confirm your eligibility for the community (you will need to install Microsoft Silverlight to complete the survey).

Should you have any concerns regarding this email please visit http://www.ramint.gov.au/media/noti...20110824.cfm and read about our new market research initiatives.

Kind Regards,

Craig McGowen
