Please review pics of this recent purchase. Is it Authentic?

I have a stereo microscope so I can get some close ups if it would help... [ I added more pics]

What would you rate the condition and value?

Let me know, but I think I overpaid at $600. I am unhappy with the cleaning marks that did not show up in the original light - but I am on day 2 of a 7-day return policy. Should I return it?

I would call it AU and definitely cleaned. AU and uncleaned would be a $600 coin. However, cleaned -> Back it goes IMO.

Thanks for the feedback. I added more close-ups.

But it sounds like even if the coin is authentic then the cleaning has reduced the value?

Thanks for the education!

Very harshly cleaned. It would likely drop the value by at least full two grades based on its details. I'm guessing AU58 details and maybe VF+ money (which I don't know off hand). For the right money any problem coin can find a buyer.

Welcome to the family, drakemeister. Yes, the value is reduced drastically by the cleaning; probably a third. I see nothing glaring to indicate that it's a counterfeit, but understand that this is the single most-counterfeited coin the US ever minted, and some of the fakes are very, very good. I'm always hesitant to recommend any raw Trade dollar for purchase.

FYI, here is an example certified AU-50 by PCGS that sold in January 2011 in a Heritage auction; total price including buyer's fee was $718.75. The only way to buy a Trade dollar IMO is in a PCGS, ANACS, NGC, or ICG slab. Take your $600 refund for your coin, kick in another $100-200, and get a certified example. You'll be glad you did.

Au, harshly cleaned, definitely should be prices as vf/xf, depending on how bad it bothers you. seems genuine.

All, thank you for all of your good advice.
I contacted the ebay seller and they have agreed to accept the return of the coin.
