This is a 2008, can you help me identify it. I think it is a die break but not positive. There is no metal missing from the rest of the coin.

That's apparently a common point for die breaks on LMCs for some reason. Here's a 2006 I posted here a while back.

In a few OBW rolls of 2006-P mint rolls I found a few examples of a die chip progression. Hope you like it?

Nice.

Mine is also struck-through; the die chip was still clinging to the die and created a deep chip-shaped impression northwest of the raised area.

I wonder why so many chips appear at that particular spot? Do they appear at the same spot on the right side of the memorial? With some design elements, I can kinda make sense why they create a weakness (the wingtip-to-rim cracks on Mercury dimes, the corner-to-rim cracks at the base of the steps on LMCs), but I don't quite get this one.

These are called die chips - this is a common stress point for the design, so it is more likely to break in that spot. They are rather common.

The die progression you show, is that just photoshopped? It appears the die chip coin is the exact same coin and you just superimposed the die chip to it.

So die chip..thanks, I will keep it for conversation piece. Would that make coops video a die chip progression then, just chipping at various times?
