I declined to purchase this medal, the design did not grab me and I tend to collect commemorative dollars.

It looks nice, but I'm with Muddler on the design not grabbing me. I passed on it too.

Well I guess I will balance this by saying I already have one on the way. I like the obverse but not so much the reverse but overall I like it.

yeh the design wasn't quite what I was hoping for, BUT its a piece of history that remembers a tragic time in history and part of the money went towards the cause so I'm happy with the purch ASE

Even if I wasn't tied up in other numismatic pursuits, I wouldn't have bought it; the medal didn't really speak to me either. I'm betting that I'm going to see one or two of these at this month's coin show in my area.

I'm glad you at least realize the design of the coin doesn't look that great. lol.

Sorry, I think it's a beauful design; I believe simplicity and symbolism were the goals...

Looking at it again, I guess it's not that bad. But I just think that when I look at it, it does not remind me of 911 at all. It could be a memorial coin for any incident in history.

I also think the coin should have been more 9/11-ish If you show this coin to anyone on the street I wonder if they would guess what the coin was representing

After pondering this for several days, it's not a bad design - in and of itself. However, the date is the only clue as to what might being commemorated. If 9/11 appeared somewhere on the coin it would exhibit greater significance. I think they could have found a design more emblematic of this tragic day in American History.

The 'Always Remember' engraved across the image of two towers is pretty unique to 9/11. I think the 'Always Remember' is a key phrase, also.

Yeah, sure, that's what I see, the twin towers. It's not ambiguous at all. By the way, those are nice stripes behind the lady!
Just sayin'
Steve
(seriously, those don't look like the twin towers, although I can suppose they are)

But only because I already know what they're SUPPOSED to be.

I still think it looks like an olympic commemorative coin and the eagle is so stiff like a transformer robot.
