Hey guys, just picked up my first tax token today. I dont really plan on collecting them, but I've been wanting one ever since my papaw told me about him using them when he was a kid.

I think I did alright with this one. He was asking 3.50, but he took a dollar

It's much brighter in person (aluminum), just some bad lighting on this one.

nice condition. Those are often very dull, worn, bent, or all three. $1 is pretty good for one in that condition.

I pick them up when I find them (as well as transit tokens). I am particularly fascinated by the ones that explain where the tax is going: "School Tax" or "old age assistance."
Rest in Peace

Haha, my papaw said that when these were being used, a mans tin roof blew off his barn. The guy got a bunch of these and put nails throught the hole to hold the tin on his barn! He said the police made him take all the nails out and almost jailed him. My papaws full of interesting stories

He got excited when I showed it to him last night at dinner, and I'll certainly pick up more if I see em.

I think that I have one of these, but the ones which came out quickly are from
Oklahoma. The say "Old Age Assistance." Two denominations: a one and a 5.
Just when were these made?
And why? During the Depression of the 30s?
I think that I have one or two from Missouri as well.
