If you have a coin show coming up near you give it a try! No one says you have to sell if you don't get an offer you like and you stand the chance of doing a cash sale (no commissions). Don't forget to check with any local dealers, especially smaller ones that might be more willing to split eventual profits with you.

Facts are facts....this is from my post on another thread here:

Same common coin...only difference is the label...repeat...ONLY difference is the 20th Annie label:

Without the 20th Annie label:

http://cgi.ebay.com/2006-W-NGC-MS-7...em20be3473f8

With the 20th Annie label:

http://cgi.ebay.com/2006-W-1-AMERIC...em4cfb80722e

Same exact coin....whether or not you agree with the concept it is what it is...collectors WILL pay for it...

Point taken. Lotta $$$ for a little plastic fantastic! Collectors might pay that for it, but not this one.

The tracking number won't get anywhere until sometime after 3:30PM ET which is when PBGS does the data transfer to UPS. The link will then only say that UPS knows about your shipment. It might be after midnight Eastern Time before the origin scan occurs and that might actually be at a UPS hub and not the Indianapolis ship point. As long as your TN gets to UPS in the 3:30 transfer (which it will) you will get your coins tomorrow. Despite all the shipping times being given out, PBGS really only physically ships once a day.

Earlier I had posted about a friend who I informed about the anniversary sets and he will have them in hand tomorrow. I was asked to assist in suggesting a TPG'R for his coins to be graded, I suggested ANACS, I had asked him to call them and get the specifics and let me know, I am set back as to what the company rep had told him, first, they want him to open the box and remove the sets, they do NOT want the original packaging.

He was also told there is no "special" label for the sets other than the 25th anniversary label, I thought they would have a FDOI, FS, OR ES label. I am amazed they told him to open the boxes and if he wants the coins in any consecutive order, number the plastic coin covers, ie, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,6 and so on. I will help and offer my opinions as to help his chances of having at least a good shot at, if any, some 70 sets. Being We will see the coins prior to shipping.

I really am having a problem as to why they are doing things this way, but actually like the idea, being the discussion here has been at times about "things behind closed doors', What do members think about this way of doing business? I actually see moves like this, NOT seen in the graders world will bring only good things to this company, I am just not sure how it can be done, with every barrel of apples, there will always be some rotten fruit, it only takes a few to spoil everything for ALL the rest.

I really like the idea of seeing your coins, numbering them If you choose and placing what you believe is a strong chance for the "70" set together....... Some of The choices are for a 15 day service the per coin charge is $17.00 for the 5 day service the per coin charge is $29.00 , about $30-40 dollar charge for the shipping/insurance/handling fee is also needed, and being I believe this company is rising up the ladder in terms of quality, consecutive fair accurate grading practices like NOT before, and deserve the business.

My question is this IF a set comes back MS/PF 70, in consecutive slabbed order what do members believe the set would fetch on the bay, a guesstimate is all I could expect, Thanks to all,....

Thanks for your comments ohihate and claire. I see the listings now. I'll plan on checking the tempature at the coin show and any if the ASE25 fever is running high I may have a tough decision on my hands; quick profit vs. passing down a few keepsakes to my kids. I myself got caught up into the frenzy. Not really an ASE collector. I started as a stacker/investor but a couple tubes of the bullion ASEs had me admitting that they are very nice looking coins. Thanks again.

Wow now I am really confused does the set need to remain
sealed from the mint to get the grading or not?
If I just want to send in the 2 "unique coins"
RP & S Mint will they receive the same labeling
as someone who would send in all 5 coins?

MD, when I first discovered that ANACS was not offering anniversary set labeling I was pleased, believing that they were not playing the "pay for the fancy label" game. Then I realized that they do exactly that but only for contract customers like HSN. In fact, HSN has exclusive rights to the "FOID" label at ANACS and ICG. One of the HSN salesmen claims that he "invented" it. Now that I realize that all of the four trusted grading companies are all heavily into the sale of what I consider to be deceptive labeling on a large scale, I have all but decided not to have any of my anniversary sets graded. If and when I sell them it will either be in unopened mint shipping boxes or opened for the buyer to inspect before buying. These sets, like their 2006 counterparts have most of their added value in the two unique coins and will retain that base (and very good) value even if opened. If a buyer wants to take over the risk that coins in sealed boxes might be damaged and wants to pay at least as much as an opened set would cost then great but I am rapidly shying away from the TPGs and have decided against any of the "special" labeling. 25th anniversary set labels are OK, but I cannot bring myself to put any of FS, ER, FDOI, or whatever else is out there on a coin in order to get more money out of it. I wish I could (and so does my bank account), but I can't.

I received my five sets on Friday morning, UPS Next Day Air Delivery. I tried to send some coins to ANACS back in Oct 2011 through UPS, and they told/showed me that they cannot ship "money", so I went to USPS and had them sent out via registered mail. If UPS won't ship "money" why did they make an exception, break their own rules to ship these sets from the Mint Distribution Center?

Because the mint is self insured. They never buy insurance and take full responsibility for the contents of their shipments. That is also one way that they keep shipping costs low.

Clair, I am only posting exacly what I was told, I am actually loving my original packages more and more.... I have among other things collected Mint/Proof sets in the original packages since 1952, It is not an easy task, and I am finding the completion of this task, very hard, to locate and IF I do, the cost, of finding them in the original packages is insane...... I am a beliver of keeping these Numismatic treasures in their original envelopes, they look so good.....
