Smokeriderdon, beautiful set, and couldn't agree more. Congratulations on getting one of those 25th anniv sets. I'm curious how many of the 100K went to CCF members; from all these threads, I'd say quite a few.

I received my official "You didn't get a 25th Anniversary ASE set" e-mail today. ARG.

I got an e-mail from the mint today and I expected it to be the dreaded cancellation of my 25th anniversary set but it was just an advertisement for Chickasaw quarter bags. I may just get this set after I spent an hour trying to get through and giving up to finish a entailed job background check. I didn't get back to the mint until about 5:00 to place my order. My fingers remain crossed.

I received my Set today. I am wondering if I should just leave it in the box un opened and put it on the shelf for 5 years and hope the value goes up or open it. It looks like the value is much higher un opened?

Gothic, did you receive a cofirmation to start with? Or did you get on the wait list? Jack, thank you. VACookey gets all the credit though. She sat on two phones AND the computer for almost an hour straight and got through for two sets. Its great when your wife is into this stuff and works from home as well.

Can't sleep .. I think I am catching a cold .. I mean, think a cold caught me ..
So had to check the mint site .. as some members have said .. it looks like it started moving about 3:38PM .. does show a UPS "origin scan" at just after midnight. Scheduled for delivery 11/15, before end of day.
I see where Morgans dad posted that many are saying, 4 or 5 hours for sell out of this item. I am guilty of this too. I should be saying it went to a waiting list around 4:50 Eastern time. That is about the time the waiting list started.
Also, I think I have read, if you were on the waiting list before 7:30 Eastern time you have a good chance of getting your set.

My coins scanned at UPS office in Pensacola at 6:16 AM. So I should have my sets today, if I am home when they try to deliver the package. I wonder if I call the UPS office they might know when they deliver my area.
I guess I will have to call and find that out ..

From the Nov 28 issue "Tom Jurkowsky, director of the U. S. Mint's Office of Public Affairs, reconfirmed to Coin World Nov. 11 that the bullion coin in the set is exclusively from San Francisco Mint production. Jurkowsky said Nov. 11 that the certificates of authenticity were likely produced before U. S. Mint officials made a final decision restricting the bullion coin production for the set to the San Francisco facility." Mr. Jurkowsky's new statement is on page 18 of the November 28th issue of Coin World magazine, near the end of a front page article titled "Grading firms begin processing anniversary sets" Didn't someone here say that PCGS should have asked Mr. Jurkowsky directly before issuing it's knee jerk response to the statement of an unnamed mint official. Now, they have to stay with what they have done because to do otherwise would mean admitting that they are fallible and I just don't see them doing that. They will find a way to justify their utterly childish reaction to the words on the COA. Every bullion coin in every 25th anniversary set was minted in San Francisco and deserves the 2011-(S) designation.

clairhardesty I agree totally. One would think that a reversal of previous decision would have involved a little more research.
I will add neither NGC nor PCGS are identifying the (S) bullion in this set as such. They will designate the (S) as FS or ER when, in reality, THAT is the dubious designation since the coin could have been struck months ago with the regular issue and just placed in this set. Same with the PF and W...
I KNOW it's not just the $18 more per coin that influenced PCGS to keep the FS.....,,,,well...maybe

So we really have THREE unique coins in this Set, NOT just two then right ? Reverse Proof..... San Fran mint mark..... AND a Bullion with no mintmark, but we know it came from San Fransico as well. So unless you got a green monster box, and sent in the whole box for certification, or buy one from somebody who did......there is no other way to get a " no S" San Fran. bullion ASE, other than this set, in the marketplace ? I'd say, this should/would still make this coin rarer and unique, and set apart......enough to say there are THREE coins in this Set.....not TWO that are unique correct ?

And who " does" or " will" designate the " No S" ASE in this Set ? ..... First Strike or Early Release means absolutely NOTHING to me. If nobody does.....this doesn't seem right then.....for such a special Bullion ASE NOT to be recognized as such.

Eaglefoot....Sorry to be dense but I am missing your "3rd unique coin" point... The bullion coin in the set is exactly the same as every other bullion coin minted. Once the box is opened the three common coins become just that..common. Anyone can switch out or make up a set using 3 coins obtained months ago and added to the two keys (S & RP). The COA that is in the box states the bullion coin came from either San Fran OR West Point. Graded sets will have the (S) with a 25th Annie label which will give it some value but it will still have no mint origin designated. Just because "we know" something is correct doesn't make it fact. I can send in a coin that I "know" is MS70 and it could come back a MS69. In reality it's a 69. Edited to add: I should add that even if it was designated as (S) it would be no different than those millions of (S) Eagles already minted a lot of which have been labeled as (S). Definitely not unique...
